The role is based at DroneShield's Sydney headquarters, which houses corporate, commercial, engineering, and operational teams supporting the company's global growth and customer base.
About the role
DroneShield is seeking a Technical Graphic Designer to join the team in Sydney, NSW.
Reporting to the Document & Graphics Lead, this role will be responsible for developing and maintaining customer-facing documentation and presentation materials across DroneShield's product portfolio.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations
- Design and format customer-facing collateral, including long- form documents such as user manuals, and shorter materials such as quick start guides, release notes, presentations and brochures.
- Translate complex concepts into clear and effective diagrams, infographics and visual communication assets.
- Create and maintain documentation templates and layouts that support consistency, usability and brand standards.
- Structure and present information in a logical and user-friendly manner, improving readability and comprehension.
- Collaborate with technical writers, engineers, product managers and subject matter experts to accurately communicate product information.
- Maintain and update existing documentation and visual assets to ensure accuracy and alignment with product releases.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines in an agile environment while maintaining a high standard of quality and attention to detail.
- Interpret briefs and deliver projects from concept through to final production, incorporating stakeholder feedback throughout the design process.
- Maintain and organise a growing library of documentation, design assets and templates.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of documentation standards, templates and workflows.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a graphic design, technical design or information design role, preferably within a technology, engineering or defence environment.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining long-form technical documentation such as user manuals.
- Experience designing presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Strong understanding of document layout, typography, visual hierarchy and information design principles.
- Experience creating diagrams, technical illustrations, infographics and other explanatory visual content.
- Ability to understand complex information and communicate it effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and explain design decisions.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality deliverables.
- Familiarity with Jira, and Confluence, or other ticket-based task management systems.
- Experience preparing artwork for print and digital distribution.
- Experience with SolidWorks Composer and the creation of technical illustrations is desirable.
