The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for a portfolio of hotels and supporting the Accounting Manager and Director of Accounting with special projects and initiatives. This role requires a high level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality, and consistently promotes the Drury culture through interactions with team members, vendors, and customers. The position reports directly to the Accounting Manager.\nResponsibilities and Duties:\nMaintain accounting records for assigned hotels, including preparing journal entries and analyzing variances from budget in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).\nPrepare year-end workpapers for assigned companies, ensuring accuracy and completeness.\nPrepare and file sales tax reports and process property tax payments and loan payments for assigned hotels.\nProcess Accounts Payable for a limited time during the training period.\nAssist in the annual budgeting process.\nSupport the preparation of schedules and documentation requested by external auditors for the annual audit.\nAssist with analysis of monthly financial results, variances, and other reports as requested.\nExhibit a +1 Service Attitude by providing courteous, friendly, and responsive customer service; respond promptly and efficiently to inquiries and requests.\nMaintain sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism at all times.\nPerform other assignments and special projects as requested.\nEducation and/or Experience:\nA college degree with a major in accounting is required.\nA minimum of two years of related accounting experience is preferred.\nQualifications, General Knowledge, Skill and Ability:\nRequires the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and to clearly read, write, and speak English.\nRequires excellent spelling, grammar, and verbal and written communication skills.\nRequires the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with the public, service providers, and team members in a warm, friendly, and professional manner that supports a hospitable team environment.\nRequires strong attention to detail when composing, preparing, and reviewing work, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.\nRequires a thorough understanding of Company policies and procedures related to job responsibilities.\nRequires the ability to apply sound business judgments and make well-reasoned decisions related to assigned duties.\nMust be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint) with the ability to enter data accurately and efficiently.\nMust be able to work independently, establish priorities, set goals, and consistently meet deadlines.\nMust be willing to actively contribute to departmental and organizational goals.\nRequires compassionate, professional, and effective interpersonal skills.\nWe are seeking a candidate with strong accounting knowledge and interpersonal skills who is committed to ongoing personal and professional development.\nRise.
