This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency\nAbout the Role\nReporting to the Despatch Manager, you will work as part of a two-person team responsible for the efficient movement, storage, and loading of finished goods. You will be instrumental in supporting our commitment to continuous improvement by ensuring stock is handled accurately, vehicles are loaded safely, and operational targets are achieved.\nKey responsibilities include:\nGathering stock from warehouse and production locations.\n Loading a variety of vehicles, including articulated trailers, rigid vehicles, and vans.\nPerforming daily FLT safety and operational checks.\nReporting any vehicle defects or maintenance requirements promptly.\nEnsuring all stock movements are accurately recorded and supported by the correct documentation.\nWorking safely and in accordance with DS Smith Safe Systems of Work.\nAdhering to workplace transport, health & safety, and site operating procedures at all times.\nSupporting the wider operations team to achieve departmental KPIs and customer service targets.\nContributing ideas and improvements to enhance safety, quality, and operational efficiency.\nAbout You\nWe're looking for an individual who combines strong FLT experience with a proactive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement\nThe ideal candidate will require:\nMinimum of 12 months' continuous experience operating a Forklift Truck.\nValid B1 Counterbalance FLT Licence up to 5,000kg.\nExperience loading and unloading a variety of pallet types.\nPrevious experience within a manufacturing or production environment.\nStrong understanding of health and safety best practices.\nExperience working to KPIs and deadlines within a fast-paced operation.\nExcellent attention to detail and accuracy.\nGood understanding of stock control processes and documentation checks.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to make informed decisions and work effectively as part of a team.\nBenefits\nAdditional benefits include:\n25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays\nPension scheme\nLife assurance\nIncome protection\nEmployee assistance program\n Cycle to work scheme\nShopping discounts\nSubsidised staff canteen\nOn site parking\nLocation: Ely, Cambridge\nWorking Pattern: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Rotating Double Day Shift)\nWeek 1: 06:00 - 14:00\nWeek 2: 14:00 - 22:00\nAbout us\nWe’re DS Smith, the company who are redefining packaging for a changing world.
