This is a hands-on role where you’ll play an important part in keeping our manufacturing operation running safely, reliably and efficiently.\nWorking 37.5 hours per week, you’ll be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, electrical fault finding and repairs, while also supporting the wider engineering team with mechanical breakdowns.\nWhat you’ll be doing\nResponding quickly and effectively to electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimise production downtime.\nCarrying out electrical fault finding, diagnostics and repairs across site machinery and equipment.\nSupporting mechanical maintenance and breakdown activities as part of a multi-skilled engineering team.\nCompleting planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities to a high standard.\nIdentifying recurring faults and contributing to root cause analysis and continuous improvement.\nWorking safely in line with company procedures, risk assessments and relevant legislation.\nMaintaining accurate records of maintenance activities through the site’s maintenance management systems.\nWorking closely with Production and Engineering colleagues to improve equipment reliability and minimise downtime.\nSupporting engineering improvement projects and equipment upgrades where required.\nMaintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety and quality within the engineering environment.\nAbout you\nWe’re looking for an experienced maintenance engineer with a strong electrical background and the ability to work confidently across both electrical and mechanical systems.\nYou’ll ideally have:\nAn electrical engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent.\nProven experience working in a manufacturing, industrial or similar engineering environment.\nStrong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.\nGood mechanical maintenance and breakdown knowledge.\nExperience working with industrial machinery and automated equipment.\nA proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems.\nThe ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.\nA commitment to health, safety and engineering standards.\nWhat we can offer you:\nCompetitive salary\nQualifying Sick Pay scheme\nPension scheme & Life insurance\nShare Save scheme\nIncome Protection\n25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays\nEmployee Assistance Programme\nVirtual GP, Occupational Health & free Flu vaccine\nCycle to Work and shopping discounts\nWe are DS Smith, together with International Paper, we are a global leader in sustainable packaging solutions and other fibre-based products.
