Annual leave is built into the shift pattern.\nWe’re looking for a skilled and proactive Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to join our team at Fordham. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining and improving our manufacturing operations, ensuring equipment reliability, site safety, and operational excellence.\nAs part of the Engineering team, you’ll deliver a world-class maintenance service within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, supporting production performance while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the site.\nKey Responsibilities\nCarry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities across site assets and equipment.\n\nEnsure manufacturing equipment remains compliant with all relevant technical safety legislation, inspections, and testing requirements.\n\nTrack, analyse, and report equipment reliability data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.\n\nLead fault-finding and problem-solving activities to minimise downtime and improve operational performance.\n\nWork closely with production teams, OEMs, and external contractors to resolve technical issues effectively.\n\nIdentify, manage, and maintain critical spare parts inventory levels.\n\nMaintain high standards of housekeeping across engineering work areas and equipment.\n\nSupport capital investment projects including site preparation, equipment installation, commissioning, and technical training.\n\nAssist with asset lifecycle planning and continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nProvide hands-on technical expertise to support operational and engineering improvements.\n\nAbout You\nTo be successful in this role, you’ll be a qualified maintenance professional with a strong background in manufacturing engineering.\nFully qualified Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician\n\nNVQ Level 3, BTEC, or equivalent engineering qualification\n\nProven experience delivering and managing preventative maintenance programmes\n\nStrong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical and electrical systems\n\nExperience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment\n\nRoot Cause Analysis\n\nProblem Solving Techniques\n\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.\n\nStrong organisational and prioritisation abilities.\n\nProactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to support wider team activities when required.\n\nBenefits\nSubsidised canteen\n\nCompany pension\n\nCycle to work scheme\n\nEmployee discounts\n\nEnhanced maternity/paternity leave\n\nShareSave Scheme\n\nWellbeing / Digicare+ Apps\n\nAnnual health assessments\n\nFree on-site parking\n\nReferral programme\n\nAbout us\nWe’re DS Smith, a company who are redefining packaging for a changing world.
