Please reach out to Human Resources should you require accommodation during the recruitment process.\nLocation: CAN - Mississauga, 5935 Airport Rd suite 1000, 1100\nJob Posting Title: Customs Specialist\nTime Type: Full Time\nCompensation: Salary starting at $55,000 plus eligible benefits, in accordance with experience and internal equity\n This posting is for an existing vacancy and not intended to create a talent pipeline \nSUMMARY\nPrimary duty is to set up and release shipments imported into Canada across various modes of transportation containing a wide variety of commodities, paying close attention to the rules and regulations as set out by CBSA in the Customs Act.\n\nKEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nSet up and release of assigned account shipments\nAble to manage more complex shipments, with some assistance\nTrack and trace incoming shipments and communicating with clients as required\nProvide final accounting to CBSA for a set list of assigned accounts\nArranging for payments of invoices to steamship lines, warehouses, government agencies\nArranging for transportation of cargo once released, and maintaining trucker relationships to maximize partnerships\nIdentify tasks that require special handling, recommend process improvements, and implement resolutions within assigned scope of responsibility\nAdhere to all Standard operating Procedures and Polices set in place by the department and organization\nProvide input and be an active participant at weekly team briefings\nQuality, Health & Safety:\nSupports organizational commitment to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 certification - Montreal location\nPerform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.\nStaff are required to ensure that their day-to-day activities embrace sustainability, Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nEducation and Experience\nHigh School Diploma or Equivalent qualification\nWorking towards Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Designation\n3- 5 years of freight forwarding and/or customs brokerage experience\nSkills and Competencies\nGood command, both verbal and written, English skills. \nAbility to create collaborative engagements and active listening\nService oriented and able to resolve customer grievances\nStrong interpersonal skills, building professional relationships internally and externally\nStrong problem-solving skills and analytical skills\nAbility to multi-task, plan, prioritize and manage time effectively to meet goals and achieve results\nBoth a team builder and a team-player\nExcellent organizational and time management skills\nAbility to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.\nAct as a role model for DSV values and adhere to the Code of Conduct\nLanguage and Computer Skills\nEnglish is the principal language for this position, additional languages may be required in other locations. \nAbility to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.\nMicrosoft Office suite\nPhysical Demands\nProlonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer\nOccasional travel may be required\nRegular working hours apply for this position, at times, working beyond these hours may be required by business needs.\nAdditional Notes / Acknowledgment\nDue to the dynamic nature of our industry, your accountabilities and role may change.
