The position requires handling of shipments from start to finish ensuring compliance with DSV policies. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers and will provide the highest level of customer service and quality by efficiently processing all inbound and outbound requirements before or within agreed time frames. Direct communication with customers, overseas offices, airlines or ocean carriers and truckers is required.\nKEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nDaily management and coordination of shipments.\nCollaborate and cooperate with overseas offices/agents to organize air and ocean shipments.\nEstablish and coordinate schedules with carriers and tender/dispatch shipments.\nCreate/prepare shipping documents as required.\nWork with customs brokers and customs agencies to arrange customs clearance/release for import shipments.\nAdhere to all domestic and international shipping regulations.\nTrack and trace all shipments.\nPrepare and publish reports, as required.\nProactively identify problems and swiftly implement the appropriate solutions.\nRegular communication with customers on shipment updates, issues and resolution.\nConfirm rates and service levels with carriers.\nResponsible for reconciling payables and vendor invoice approvals.\nPrepare quotes for clients and other network offices/agents.\nEvaluate shipments, consolidate loads, select most cost-effective method of pick up and/or delivery.\nPerform lane analysis to determine most appropriate mode of transport within customer requirements.\nInvestigating non-conformities and working with Quality teams to develop corrective actions.\nEnsure all DSV KPIs met throughout the movement of the shipment.\nBook, Manage and monitor shipments afterhours and weekends\nQuality, Health & Safety:\nSupports organizational commitment Halifax location\nPerform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.\nStaff are required to ensure that their day-to-day activities embrace sustainability, Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nEducation and Experience\nA minimum of three years international transportation industry experience or,\nEducation in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field of study.\nCIFFA certificate, an asset\nAuthorized Cargo Representative (ACR) designated status, an asset\nSkills and Competencies\nGood command, both verbal and written, English skills.\nAbility to create collaborative engagements and active listening\nService oriented and able to resolve customer grievances\nStrong interpersonal skills, building professional relationships internally and externally\nStrong problem-solving skills and analytical skills\nAbility to multi-task, plan, prioritize and manage time effectively in order to meet goals and achieve results\nBoth a team builder and a team-player\nExcellent organizational and time management skills\nLanguage and Computer Skills\nEnglish is the principal language for this position, additional languages may be required in other locations.\nAbility to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.\nMicrosoft Office suite\nCargoWise experience, an asset\nPhysical Demands\nProlonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer\nRegular working hours apply for this position, at times, working beyond these hours may be required by business needs.\nAdditional Notes / Acknowledgment\nDue to the dynamic nature of our industry, your accountabilities and role may change.
