This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient freight movement across local and regional lanes while maintaining strong customer service and operational accuracy. The Supervisor coordinates dispatch activities, supports drivers, collaborates with safety and maintenance teams, and acts as the site lead in the Manager’s absence. This position plays a key role in delivering consistent operational performance over weekend-heavy periods.\nDuties and Responsibilities\nServe as back-up to the Manager, providing operational leadership Mon-Fri\n\nLead, coach, develop, and schedule dispatchers and operators for weekend operations.\n\nEnsure freight assignments, routing, and driver dispatch are executed safely and efficiently.\n\nOversee route planning, driver utilization, Hours of Service (HOS) compliance, and timeline adherence.\n\nCommunicate with customers, brokers, and internal teams to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries.\n\nMonitor and improve operational KPIs (on-time %, driver utilization, deadhead, dwell time).\n\nSupport driver performance management, including service issues, attendance, and safety compliance.\n\nCoordinate with maintenance to ensure equipment availability and readiness.\n\nParticipate in accident/incident investigations and collaborate with Safety for follow-up actions.\n\nLead dispatch huddles, operational updates, and communication with drivers and support staff.\n\nAddress escalations quickly and effectively to ensure weekend operational continuity.\n\nWork with Road Management to support productivity targets and dispatch reporting.\n\nPartner with Sales to support customer retention and identify operational opportunities.\n\nAssist with settlement disputes, documentation accuracy, and load tracking issues.\n\nPerform additional duties and special projects as assigned.\n\nSupervisory Responsibilities (if any)\nOversee drivers, dispatchers, and operational support personnel assigned to extended coverage operations.\n\nApprove timesheets, PTO requests, and daily schedule assignments.\n\nConduct coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations.\n\nSupport corrective actions in coordination with Road Management.\n\nParticipate in interviewing and hiring decisions for operators and dispatch roles.\n\nMaintain a positive work culture and ensure compliance with company policies.\n\nEducational background / Work experience / Minimum Qualifications\nHigh school diploma or GED.\n\n3+ years of transportation, logistics, or dispatch operations experience.\n\n2+ years of experience supervising drivers, dispatchers, or fleet operations.\n\nStrong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and HOS regulations.\n\nExperience using TMS systems, ELDs, routing tools, and load tracking systems.\n\nStrong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.\n\nAbility to lead operations during non-standard hours (weekend/transition days).\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or related field.\n\n5+ years of transportation operations or dispatch experience.\n\n3+ years supervising teams in a logistics or trucking environment.\n\nWhite glove, last-mile, or VAD delivery experience.\n\nFreight brokerage experience.\n\nBilingual (English/Spanish).\n\nSkills & Competencies\nTeam player with ability to work alongside and lead diverse cross-functional teams.\n\nCapability to work under time and quota pressures.\n\nAnalytical mindset to optimize and keep the supply chain running in a world of change\n\nAccustomed to working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.\n\nDemonstrates commitment and results-orientation, strives to maximize account performance, and achieve growth targets.\n\nLanguage skills\nBusiness fluent in English\n\nPreferably good command of local language\n\nBi-lingual a plus\n\nComputer Literacy\nHighly proficient in Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and others)\n\nExperience with Transportation Management Systems and ELDs\n\nPhysical Demands\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear; and use computer and telephone equipment.
