Lead the handling of shipments ensuring compliance with DSV’s Corporate guidelines as well as government regulations. This role will have direct communication with customers, overseas offices and carriers is required. This role mentors and trains new staff as well as update internal and external process changes from time to time.\n\nKEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nDaily management and coordination of shipments \nLead and direct desk level, day to day operations of the Operation Department\nChampion process and procedure to meet or exceed company KPI requirements\nEstablish and coordinate schedules with carriers and tender shipments\nPrepare and publish reports as requested\nMentor and train new staff from time to time\nAct as the first escalation point for operational and customer service issues.\nProactively identify problems and swiftly implement the appropriate solution\nResponsible for cost containment of shipments \nEvaluate shipments, consolidate loads, select most cost-effective method of delivery \nDaily Communication with customer on relevant issues and resolution\nManage new account implementation from standard operating procedure to execution\nAbility to demonstrate deductive logic, problem solving and trouble shooting skills\nEffectively deal with any issues that arise within scope of responsibility\nWork with Management to continually improve department operations with focus on productivity\nWill assign and manage workflow \nResponsible for his/her team performance including staff development, recognition through daily desk level oversight, guidance and coaching\nPerform another assigned task/responsibilities\nAdhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines\nAbility to manage conflicts professionally and promote teamwork.\nProvide operational coverage in the absence of the operator/supervisor. \n\nQuality, Health & Safety:\nSupports organizational commitment to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 certification - Montreal location\nPerform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.\nStaff are required to ensure that their day-to-day activities embrace sustainability, Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace.\nQUALIFICATIONS\n\nEducation and Experience\nEducation in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field of study\nMinimum two (2) years’ experience in a freight forwarding environment \nCIFFA certificate, an asset\nDangerous Goods certification, an asset\nACR designated status, an asset (for Airfreight only)\nSkills and Competencies\nProven ability as a self-starter, with ability to plan, organize, and establish priorities to meet goals and achieve results\nGood command of English language, both verbally and written \nAbove average customer service skills\nInterpersonal skills that build respected professional relationships internally & externally\nDemonstrated good leadership and management skills \nExcellent organizational and time management skills\nAbility to manage tight deadlines \nExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills\nAttention to detail and punctuality\nBe authentic, approachable, open and honest\nAct as a role model for DSV values and adhere to the Code of Conduct\nLanguage and Computer Skills\n\nEnglish is the principal language for this position, additional languages may be required in other locations. \nAbility to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.\nProficient in Microsoft Office suite\nCargoWise + Tango experience, an asset\nPhysical Demands\nProlonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer\nRegular working hours apply for this position, at times, working beyond these hours may be required by business needs.\nAdditional Notes / Acknowledgment\nDue to the dynamic nature of our industry, your accountabilities and role may change.
