The primary focus is centered on reducing risk and improving the efficiency, performance, stability, security, and quality of all systems and platforms. The File Transfer Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of file transfer platforms that support secure, reliable, and high volume data movement between internal systems and external clients. The role is critical to ensuring platform resiliency, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across managed file transfer services.\nThis position works closely with application teams, infrastructure partners, security, and external clients to enable secure integrations, support onboarding, and maintain production stability for mission-critical data exchanges.\nYour Primary Responsibilities:\nPlatform Engineering & Operations\nImplement, operate, and support managed file transfer platforms, including IBM Connect:Direct (NDM), IBM DataPower (SFTP) and AWS Transfer Family for internal and external connectivity\nMonitor file transfer workflows to ensure high availability, throughput, and transaction success rates\nTroubleshoot production issues \nParticipate in on-call rotations and support incident response for Tier-0 / Tier-1 platforms.\nClient & Application Support\nSupport client and application onboarding activities by providing secure connectivity patterns, testing support, and production readiness validation\nPartner with internal application teams and external clients to diagnose issues, optimize configurations, and resolve integration challenges\nMaintain strong service reliability and operational SLAs for critical business workflows.\nSecurity, Compliance & Audit\nEnforce secure file transfer standards including encryption in transit, strong authentication, key management, and least-privilege access\nSupport audit and regulatory compliance efforts by maintaining enforceable controls, evidentiary artifacts, and documented operational procedures\nCollaborate with security and technology risk teams on reviews, remediation efforts, and control enhancements.\nLifecycle Management & Resiliency\nExecute platform lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching and decommissioning of end-of-life components\nContribute to disaster recovery planning, failover testing, and resiliency improvements to meet defined RTO/RPO objectives\nDrive modernization initiatives focused on automation, cloud integration, and improved observability.\nAutomation & Operational Excellence\nDevelop and maintain automation for onboarding, configuration management, monitoring, and compliance reporting\nImprove operational processes by reducing manual effort, improving MTTR, and increasing platform transparency\nMaintain and enhance technical documentation, runbooks, and standardized onboarding patterns.\nQualifications:\nMinimum of 6 years of related experience\nBachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience\nTalents Needed for Success:\nStrong experience with managed file transfer technologies such as:\nIBM Connect:Direct (NDM)\nIBM DataPower (SFTP gateways)\nAWS Transfer Family\nExperience supporting high-volume, mission-critical production platforms\nFamiliarity with Linux platforms, scripting, and operational tooling for troubleshooting and automation\nProfessional Skills\nStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex, multi-system issues\nAbility to collaborate effectively with application, infrastructure, security, and external client teams\nExperience working in regulated environments with strict audit, risk, and compliance requirements\nClear communication skills and ability to document operational and technical processes\nExperience with cloud-integrated file transfer patterns\nExposure to automation tools (e.g., Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code concepts)\nFamiliarity with enterprise monitoring, logging, or SIEM integrations\nExperience supporting disaster recovery and resiliency testing initiatives\nActual salary is determined based on the role, location, individual experience, skills, and other considerations.
