Our purpose-built solutions-powered by AI and honed by decades of vertical expertise-are helping some of the world’s most significant enterprises thrive amid operational constraints and uncover new opportunities in a fast-changing world.\nJob Description:\nPosition Summary:\nDTN is seeking an experienced, hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the engineering team responsible for building the foundational capabilities of our Operational Decisioning Platform (ODP).\nThe DTN Operational Decisioning Platform is an internal platform that packages cloud infrastructure into purpose-built, higher-level capabilities so that our engineers, solutions teams, and customers can build data products, applications, and AI-powered tools without managing the underlying cloud infrastructure themselves.\nThe ODP Platform team builds the foundational layer that other teams rely on, including APIs, software development kits (SDKs), command-line interfaces (CLIs), developer tooling, and managed services. Much of this work is greenfield, providing an opportunity to shape the architecture, engineering practices, and long-term evolution of a critical enterprise platform.\nThis is a hands-on engineering leadership role combining people management, technical direction, platform delivery, and operational ownership. As a player/coach, you will guide the engineers building complex distributed systems, partner closely with Architecture, Product, and platform consumers, and establish the engineering quality and operational rigor required to deliver secure, reliable, and reusable capabilities at scale.\nWhat You Will Be Responsible For:\nEngineering Leadership and Team Development\nLead and manage a team of platform engineers across multiple experience levels, with responsibility for hiring, onboarding, performance management, professional development, and day-to-day delivery.\nCoach, mentor, and grow engineers while establishing a healthy, collaborative, high-accountability engineering culture.\nSet and maintain high standards for engineering quality, technical execution, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.\nServe as a hands-on technical leader who can engage deeply in architectural discussions, critically evaluate designs, and help engineers navigate complex technical tradeoffs.\nPlatform Architecture and Technical Direction\nOwn the platform's technical direction in partnership with senior engineers and architecture stakeholders.\nGuide the design and implementation of foundational, distributed, multi-account cloud systems built on AWS.\nOversee the development of developer-facing APIs, SDKs, CLIs, tooling, and managed services that enable other engineering teams to build on the platform.\nLead foundational distributed-systems engineering efforts involving secure cross-account communication, multi-tenant isolation, provisioning, and lifecycle automation.\nDevelop platform abstractions that allow engineers and solutions teams to work with purpose-built operational capabilities rather than raw cloud infrastructure.\nGuide architectural decisions for new and evolving platform capabilities, including substantial greenfield development.\nEnsure platform architecture supports scalability, security, maintainability, and long-term reuse across multiple products and teams.\nPlatform Adoption and Developer Experience\nBuild a shared platform that internal engineering and solutions teams actively want to use and contribute to.\nDrive an approach in which reusable platform capabilities emerge from real engineering and customer requirements.\nEstablish practices and incentives that encourage teams to consume, improve, and contribute to shared platform components.\nMake reuse the default by developing capabilities that improve developer productivity and reduce duplicated engineering effort.\nPartner with Product to deliver visible, usable milestones, including a developer portal, technical documentation, and initial productized platform capabilities.\nIncorporate feedback from internal and external platform stakeholders into technical priorities and the product roadmap.\nSecurity, Reliability, and Operational Excellence\nOwn the platform's operational contract, ensuring that security, isolation, reliability, and observability guarantees are consistently maintained.\nEstablish and maintain strong cloud identity and access management, isolation boundaries, and appropriate security controls.\nGuide the implementation of signed and authenticated service-to-service communication, least-privilege access, and secure multi-account architectures.\nEnsure end-to-end observability, monitoring, and operational visibility are foundational platform capabilities.\nOwn the health of on-call operations, incident response processes, and service-level objectives.\nPromote reliable engineering practices, including automated testing, infrastructure as code, trunk-based development, and incremental, reversible delivery.\nBalance platform availability, security, and operational requirements with the need to deliver new capabilities efficiently.\nCross-Functional Collaboration and Delivery\nPartner closely with Architecture, Identity, Product, and Solutions/Field Engineering to ensure platform capabilities meet the needs of teams building on the platform.\nTranslate strategic objectives into actionable engineering roadmaps and measurable delivery milestones.\nCommunicate technical direction, delivery progress, dependencies, and risks to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.\nBalance speed-to-value with the development of durable, scalable, and reusable platform foundations.\nCoordinate across engineering teams to resolve dependencies, align architectural decisions, and ensure effective delivery.\nPartner with Product and other stakeholders to ensure that platform investments deliver meaningful business and developer value.\nAI-Enabled Engineering and Platform Capabilities\nChampion modern AI-assisted software development practices, including coding assistants and agentic development tools, to improve engineering productivity and team velocity.\nGuide the design and integration of AI-augmented capabilities into the platform's modular architecture.\nSupport platform capabilities that incorporate large language models (LLMs), AI agents, and related services.\nEvaluate how emerging AI development technologies can improve engineering workflows and expand the capabilities available to platform consumers.\nWhat You Will Bring to the Position:\nEngineering Experience and Leadership\n8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years operating at a T3 (Staff) through T5 (Principal) engineering level and at least 2 years in a technical lead or engineering management capacity.\nDemonstrated experience shipping, operating, and supporting production software systems.\nProven ability to hire, coach, mentor, and develop engineers across multiple experience levels.\nExperience establishing a healthy engineering culture built on accountability, collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.\nAbility to provide credible technical leadership while managing engineering delivery, people development, and operational responsibilities.\nCloud-Native Architecture and Distributed Systems\nStrong technical foundation in AWS cloud-native architecture and distributed systems.\nAbility to engage deeply with engineers on system architecture, critically review technical designs, and make informed architectural tradeoffs.\nExperience working with platform engineering, developer tooling, SDKs, infrastructure, or similar teams that build foundational capabilities for other engineers rather than exclusively developing end-user features.\nStrong understanding of secure
