Our purpose-built solutions-powered by AI and honed by decades of vertical expertise-are helping some of the world’s most significant enterprises thrive amid operational constraints and uncover new opportunities in a fast-changing world.\nJob Description:\nPosition Summary:\nDTN is seeking a talented Platform Engineer to help build and evolve the foundational cloud-native capabilities of our Operational Decisioning Platform (ODP).\nThe DTN Operational Decisioning Platform is an internal platform that packages cloud infrastructure into purpose-built, higher-level capabilities so that our engineers, solutions teams, and customers can build data products, applications, and AI-powered tools without managing the underlying cloud infrastructure themselves.\nAs a Platform Engineer, you will build and deliver features across the platform's developer-facing APIs, software development kits (SDKs), command-line interfaces (CLIs), module framework, and managed services. You will work autonomously on well-scoped engineering initiatives while collaborating with senior engineers who provide technical guidance, design reviews, and mentorship.\nThis is an opportunity for an engineer with several years of professional experience to deepen their expertise in AWS cloud-native technologies, distributed systems, and platform engineering. You will help build infrastructure that other engineers depend on while developing the technical judgment and ownership skills needed to advance toward a senior engineering role.\nWhat You Will Be Responsible For:\nPlatform Feature Development and Delivery\nDesign, build, test, and deploy platform features from initial planning through production delivery.\nImplement service logic, module functionality, and business logic supporting the DTN Operational Decisioning Platform.\nDevelop and extend developer-facing APIs, SDKs, CLIs, and managed platform capabilities.\nWrite and maintain infrastructure-as-code configurations required to provision and deploy platform services.\nIndependently own moderately complex engineering features from development through deployment, with minimal oversight.\nSolve day-to-day technical challenges independently while escalating architectural and design questions to senior engineers when appropriate.\nModule Framework and Distributed Systems\nContribute to the development and evolution of the platform's module framework.\nImplement interface contracts and business logic within a framework that manages common platform requirements.\nWork with framework capabilities supporting authentication, authenticated communication, dispatch, validation, metrics, retries, and reconciliation.\nDevelop reliable software components that integrate effectively with the platform's shared services and architectural standards.\nApply distributed-systems principles, including asynchronous processing, retry handling, idempotency, and reliable service interactions.\nContribute to modular, reusable platform capabilities that enable other engineering teams to build applications and data products without directly managing underlying cloud infrastructure.\nSoftware Quality and Engineering Practices\nDevelop reliable, maintainable, and thoroughly tested production software.\nCreate and maintain automated unit and integration tests to validate application functionality and system behavior.\nUse established build tooling, continuous integration processes, and automated testing practices.\nFollow trunk-based development practices to keep code changes deployable and support incremental delivery.\nApply established platform standards for security, interface design, infrastructure as code, and software development.\nParticipate in technical design discussions and code reviews, incorporating feedback to continuously improve engineering quality.\nUse version control and source-management practices to support effective collaboration and reliable software delivery.\nCloud Infrastructure and Operational Support\nDevelop and maintain cloud-native services using AWS infrastructure and platform capabilities.\nWork with cloud compute, storage, identity and access management, API services, managed data stores, and event-driven technologies.\nUse Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tools to define and manage cloud infrastructure.\nInstrument services with appropriate metrics, monitoring, and observability capabilities to support troubleshooting and operational reliability.\nParticipate in the team's supported on-call rotation and assist with investigating service failures and operational incidents.\nDevelop experience troubleshooting distributed-system failures, cross-account interactions, and cloud infrastructure issues.\nApply least-privilege access principles and established cloud security practices.\nHelp maintain reliable, observable, and debuggable services across the platform.\nAI-Assisted Engineering and Platform Capabilities\nUse modern AI-assisted software development tools, including coding assistants and agentic development technologies, to support daily engineering activities.\nApply AI development tools responsibly to improve coding efficiency, engineering productivity, and software quality.\nContribute to AI-augmented platform capabilities, including features supported by large language models (LLMs), AI agents, and related technologies.\nCollaborate with senior engineers to understand the design and implementation of AI-enabled services within the platform's modular architecture.\nCollaboration and Professional Development\nCollaborate with senior engineers, engineering leadership, and cross-functional responsibilities grow.\nWhat You Will Bring to the Position:\nProfessional Experience and Education\n2-5 years of professional software engineering experience developing and shipping production software.\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.\nDemonstrated ability to independently deliver moderately complex software features from development through deployment.\nAbility to solve routine engineering challenges with minimal oversight while recognizing when additional technical guidance is appropriate.\nStrong problem-solving skills, technical curiosity, and a commitment to continuous professional growth.\nProgramming and Application Development\nSolid programming skills in TypeScript and Node.js, or strong proficiency in another modern programming language with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn TypeScript/Node.js.\nAcademic or professional software development exposure to front-end technologies such as React, Angular, or Vue.\nAcademic or professional software development exposure to back-end technologies such as Node.js or Python.\nExperience developing APIs using RESTful services built with Node.js.\nExperience consuming both REST and GraphQL APIs.\nUnderstanding of REST API design, JSON, and service-based application development.\nSolid understanding of source control and versioning using Git.\nCloud Infrastructure and Distributed Systems\nWorking knowledge of AWS and fundamental cloud computing concepts, including compute, storage, identity and access management, and APIs.\nFamiliarity with infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform or comparable tools.\nUnderstanding of fundamental distributed-systems concepts, including asynchronous processing, retries, and idempotency, or DTN is a pay for performance organization, which means there is the opportunity to advance your compensation with performance over time. The actual base pay offered for this position will be dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, training/education, transferable skills, business needs, internal equity and applicable laws. The targeted hiring base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
