And finding the most talented and entrepreneurial people to join the Group has been and will continue to be key.\nDUAL North America, Inc. is seeking a\nAssociate Underwriter E&S PropertyClassification: Exempt/Full-Time\nReports to: Underwriter, E&S Property or above\nTravel: 0-10%\nSalary: $65,000.00-75,000.00\nLocation: Chicago, IL, Hybrid\nRole overview\nDUAL North America is seeking an Associate Underwriter for the E&S Property division.\nAt DUAL, Associate Underwriters play a key supportive role through the risk underwriting process and expansion of broker relationships. In this role, you will assist with account quoting and binding, prepare and distribute various types of communications, and provide quality customer service through the underwriting life cycle.\nSupporting a team of underwriters within the E&S Property division, you will support underwriters managing non-standard and complex risks. Your responsibilities include coordinating submission reviews, assisting with risk analysis, and supporting brokers to place hard-to-place business efficiently.\nRole responsibilities\nProcess submissions by providing account triage for Underwriters\nProvide backup support for Underwriters when traveling in the market\nGather and compile information required to quote and/or bind an account\nGenerate, edit, and send out a variety of correspondence on behalf of the Underwriters such as declination letters, quote follow ups and subjectivity reminders\nDemonstrate basic understanding of technical underwriting principles and risk underwriting characteristics\nLearn market dynamics, competitive landscape, and product differences (attend weekly underwriting meetings if applicable, ask questions) - need to understand what business is selling (understanding why deals are lost and adjusting accordingly)\nProvide customer service and underwriting support to help achieve new and renewal premium goals\nBuild relationships with producers with supervision from more senior underwriters\nFill in for other team members to ensure business continuity during peak periods and/or when team members are unavailable\nAssist Underwriters as requested\nComplete other related clerical and administrative duties as assigned\nUnderwriting Authority:\nWorking towards Underwriting Authority, but does not have it yet\nQuote issuance as approved by senior underwriter\nBinder issuance as approved by senior underwriter\nPolicy Issuance review\nConduct inspection review and analysis resulting in appropriate issue identification, and process post inspection changes as necessary\nKey requirements\nBachelor’s degree in risk management, finance, business or a related field preferred\n0-1 year underwriter or insurance experience\nFoundational knowledge of insurance principles\nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)\nAbility to follow policies and procedures\nComplete assigned tasks correctly, on time and able to learn quickly\nSelf-motivated and demonstrating attention to detail\nBe able to work independently for extended periods\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills as well as general business understanding\nTravel up to 10% with an underwriter to shadow and participate in interactions between Underwriters and brokers\nMust be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time, with occasional movement in the office to access cabinets and equipment\nIf you do not meet all the qualifications for this role, we still encourage you to apply, as we are always looking for diverse talent to join our growing team\nWhat we offer:\nA career that you define.
