The Group operates in 57 countries, employs over 24,000 people and manages premiums totalling US$50bn on behalf of its clients.\nA fantastic opportunity to join an expanding warranty & indemnity insurance underwriting team\nFull-time, based in London\nSuitable for candidates with a corporate legal background and looking to move into the insurance sector, or with previous W&I underwriting experience\nA clear route for progression to a more senior underwriter role for the right individual\nRole overview\nWe are looking for an Underwriter to join an expanding warranty and indemnity insurance (W&I) underwriting team. The W&I team is part of a new global Transactional Risk (TR) team at an established and specialist global managing general agent (MGA). This role would suit a collaborative and commercially minded corporate solicitor looking to join the insurance market as well as those with current W&I experience.\nRole responsibilities\nThe successful candidate will be given both a great deal of responsibility in managing their own underwrites and exposure to clients, brokers and solicitor partners from day one. In particular, their responsibilities will include:\nWorking alongside senior underwriters to underwrite international W&I risks (including the review and analysis of transaction documents (share purchase agreements, disclosure letters etc) and due diligence reports).\nDrafting and negotiating W&I policies to ensure the policy and coverage position is appropriate and within the team’s underwriting appetite and guidelines.\nBuilding and maintaining positive relationships within the market, in particular with W&I brokers and M&A lawyers, with the view to identifying and winning new opportunities.\nSupervising junior members of the W&I team in both preparing non-binding indications for new risks and supporting them more generally in their own development.\nSupport the development of the expanding global TR team and encourage cross selling and knowledge sharing across all TR product lines.\nKey requirements\nQualified corporate solicitor with at least 2 years post-qualification experience or insurance professionals with existing W&I underwriting experience.\nExperience in drafting, managing and / or underwriting due diligence reports for M&A transactions.\nExperience of working with W&I insurance.\nDetail orientated and proactive team player.\nStrong interpersonal skills and an ability and desire to build and develop relationships with our key W&I broker partners.\nWhat do we offer in return?\nA career that you define.\nOf course, we offer a competitive range of rewards and benefits to support you, but we know you expect all that. \nWhat you might not expect is a job where everyone has a voice, where volunteering in the community is part of the day job, and where everyone is encouraged to play a part towards our sustainability goals.
