As an intern, you'll have the unique opportunity to:\nLearn by Doing:Gain real-world experience in electrical design within an industrial electrical construction environment.\nGrow Your Skills:Work closely with experienced professionals who will mentor and guide you throughout the program.\nWhat You’ll Learn:\nUnderstanding of project scope of work as specified on contracts.\nLearn technical writing skills developing functional design specifications.\nCode: Practical application of the NEC\nTools: Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, and Excel-based calculation tools.\nProcess: How design-build projects move from schematic design through submittal, fabrication, and installation.\nCollaboration: How to work with Project Management, Prefabrication, and Controls teams, with mentoring from a senior electrical designer throughout the summer.\n\nWhat You’ll Work On:\nDraft one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and power plans in Revit and AutoCAD.\nPerform NEC calculations, including feeder and branch-circuit sizing, voltage drop, conduit fill, and service load calculations.\nModel conduit, cable tray, and equipment in Revit and help resolve clash-detection issues during BIM/VDC coordination.\nSupport structured cabling and low-voltage layouts, including pathways, IDF/MDF rooms, and rack elevations.\nPrepare submittal packages and redline markups alongside Project Management interns.\nParticipate in QA/QC reviews of drawings and learn how an IFM-grade drawing package is checked.\nDevelop bills of material that Prefabrication interns use to build EDC assemblies.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\nDevelop an understanding of the electrical construction industry.\nLearn the basics of electrical design through a comprehensive 10-week structured program.\nTake initiative in your personal and professional development.\nCollaborate effectively with team members and across various departments.\nPossess good listening skills, follow instructions and communicate effectively.\nUtilize software and technology tools efficiently (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).\nDemonstrate curiosity by asking insightful questions and seeking out learning opportunities.\nThrive under pressure to meet deadlines and achieve project goals.\nQualifications:\nEnrolled in an Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management program or a related field.\nSophomore, Junior or Senior standing in college.\nSolid academic record (minimum GPA of 3.2).\nStrong math aptitude skills.\nEffective communicator with both verbal and written skills.\nBasic understanding of circuit theory and single-phase and three-phase power systems.\nExposure to AutoCAD or Revit through coursework or projects is a plus but is not required.\nComfortable working in Excel and eager to learn the NEC.\nA keen interest in building a career within the construction industry.\nAble to visit our fabrication shop and job sites throughout the Chicagoland area.\nDubak Electrical Group, LLC and its affiliates are Equal Opportunity Employers.
