Consider joining the Duke Energy team, where you'll find a friendly work environment, opportunities for growth and development, recognition for your work, and competitive pay and benefits.\nJob Description\nThe Associate Dispatcher is a training position for becoming a Distribution Dispatcher in the Duke Energy Florida's Distribution Control Center.\nThe job responsibility of the Associate Distribution Dispatcher is to complete The Dispatcher Qualification Program which typically takes between eighteen to twenty-four months. The goal of the program is to develop proficiency in all Distribution Dispatcher functions through the use of various training methods including the classroom, on-the-job training, and field experience.\nThe Distribution Dispatcher functions include operating the electrical distribution system in a safe and reliable manner; monitoring multiple computer applications for system alarms and outages; coordinating and directing switching activities for normal maintenance and power restoration; forming contingency plans to mitigate consequences and implementing contingency plans should an event occur; and dispatching service level work orders to field resources.\nThe position requires a two part pre-employment testing:\n- System Operator Power Dispatch test (SO/PD)\nProgression through the hiring process will be contingent upon the SOPD test recommendation, and a formal interview.\nBasic/Required Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent and must meet one of the following criteria:\n\nJourneyman lineman\n\nJourneyman electrician-substation\n\nSystem Protection & Control Technician (Relay Tech)\n\n5 years of distribution, transmission, production, or power-utility related experience\n\n3 years distribution transmission, production, or power-utility related experience and Associate’s Degree in related field\n\n1 years distribution transmission, production, or power-utility related experience and Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering\n\nDesired Qualifications\nAbility to comprehend one- line and three-line diagrams\n\nExperience with SCADA and OMS applications\n\nMust be able to work in a high paced, rapidly changing environment\n\nWorking Conditions\nOnsite Mobility Classification - Work will be performed at a company facility.
