Our products help teams anticipate future energy demand, identify grid upgrade needs, and make data-driven investment decisions that shape the future of the electric grid.\nWe’re looking for an Associate Software Engineer who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to meaningful, real-world software used in production to support grid modernization.\nResponsibilities\nAs an Associate Software Engineer, you’ll work as part of a small, collaborative Agile team building and supporting cloud-based software solutions. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, you’ll contribute to the full software development lifecycle-learning modern engineering practices while delivering code that runs in production and makes a real impact.\nYou will:\nAssist in designing, developing, testing, and debugging software solutions and enhancements\n\nWrite clean, efficient, well-tested code following established design patterns and team standards\n\nHelp build and maintain backend services, APIs, and data pipelines\n\nSupport system monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of reliability and performance\n\nParticipate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and test-driven development practices\n\nCollaborate closely with software engineers, product owners, designers, and data engineers\n\nLearn and apply modern cloud-native patterns, automation, and CI/CD practices\n\nOur technology stack\nAWS services such as S3, DynamoDB, Glue, Athena, EC2, Lambda, and CloudWatch\n\nBackend development and API design\n\nSQL and NoSQL data stores\n\nEvent-driven and microservices-based architectures\n\nAutomated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools\n\nBasic/Required qualifications\nAssociates degree in Information, or Other Related Degree\n\nIn lieu of Associates degree(s) listed above, High School/GED AND 2 year(s) related work experience\n\nDesired qualifications:\nRecently graduated or preparing to graduate with a 2-year or 4-year IT-related degree, or equivalent experience\n\nPrevious Duke Energy experience\n\nFoundational knowledge of programming concepts and software development principles\n\nExposure to full-stack development\n\nStrong curiosity, problem-solving skills, and desire to learn\n\nAbility to work effectively in a collaborative Agile environment\n\nFamiliarity with Java, JavaScript, Angular, or REST APIs\n\nExposure to AWS or other cloud platforms\n\nInternship, academic, or project experience delivering software\n\nInterest in cloud computing and DevOps practices\n\nWorking Conditions\nHybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period.
