This role is focused on managing fleet and garage maintenance - not trucking or logistics. \nExperience managing a remote team spread across multiple regions. \nThe ability to use data to drive business decisions. \nFleet Services provides strategic leadership, management, and governance for Duke Energy’s transportation fleet of more than 14,000 vehicles and mobile equipment. The Supervisor of Vehicle Maintenance leads a diverse workforce across assigned maintenance locations (garages), ensuring maintenance and repair work is completed safely, correctly, and on time. This role owns compliance with safety, environmental, ANSI, and DOT standards, work scheduling, accurate work management system records, customer coordination, and garage budgets. The supervisor also removes workplace barriers, communicates organizational direction, and manages employee development and performance.\nResponsibilities & Duties\nManage garage operations\nEnsure timely, quality completion of work in compliance with safety, environmental, ANSI, DOT, manufacturer, and Fleet Services standards. \nFoster a strong safety culture; provide safety training and promptly correct safety issues. \nComplete field reviews, observations, and audits to verify progress, performance, and quality. \nMonitor and manage garage expenditures to support budget and incentive goals. \nEnsure 24/7 staffing coverage and support storm restoration, including off-system deployments. \nServe as the local point of contact for fleet, customer, equipment, and facilities issues. \nLead a safe, productive, and motivated workforce\nBuild a culture of trust, two-way communication, accountability, and teamwork. \nEmpower employees to make decisions within established processes and goals. \nRecruit and develop technicians, including technical, compliance, and on-the-job training. \nMaintain a working knowledge of bargaining unit contracts. \nDrive continuous improvement and change\nModel change leadership and ensure successful rollout of improvements and new technology. \nAnalyze key performance reports and take action to improve operational performance. \nLead and support event investigations and corrective actions. \nPartner with Fleet GO staff to improve maintenance practices and procedures. \nDeliver exceptional customer service\nPartner with internal customers to complete maintenance and repairs in a way that maximizes equipment availability. \nResolve issues promptly and escalate to Fleet GO staff when needed. \nEnsure work order accuracy and keep customers informed of work affecting charges or availability. \nCollaborate with customers during storm restoration per the Fleet Storm Plan. \nRequired/Basic Qualifications\nHigh school diploma/GED\nFive (5) or more years of related work experience\nValid driver's license\nMust live within one (1) hour from work location\nMobility Classification\nOnsite - Work will be performed at a company facility.\nDesired Qualifications\nClass A CDL license\nAssociate or bachelor's degree\nDemonstrated working knowledge of fleet maintenance best practices as well as state and federal laws and regulations that pertain to vehicle/equipment operation and maintenance\nPrior experience supervising in a tech/mechanical-type environment\nDemonstrated effective leadership skills\nDemonstrated effective written & verbal communication skills\nDemonstrated effective problem solving and analytical skills\nDemonstrated effective conflict management and negotiating skills.\nDemonstrated ability to work self-directed and be a team player\nDemonstrated effective interpersonal skills\nDemonstrated ability to implement and lead others through changes.\nPossesses working knowledge of Fleet maintenance processes.\nPrior supervisory experience working with craft employees.\nDemonstrated ability to motivate and engage employees.\nExperience working with customers. Demonstrates good customer service skills\nAbility to effectively relate to craft, leadership, and external stakeholders\nDemonstrated technical aptitude and ability to learn and communicate complex technical concepts to a diverse group of stakeholders.\nExperience with process or continuous improvement efforts\nUnderstanding of basic financial concepts including experience managing budgets.\nEffective at managing multiple and at times conflicting priorities in a manner that keeps employees focused and fosters positive relations with customers and other stakeholders\nWorking knowledge of the equipment and associated regulations (DOT, ANSI, etc.)\nExperience managing represented employees and working through labor agreements.\nTravel Requirements\n25-50%Relocation Assistance Provided (as applicable)\nYesRepresented/Union Position\nNoVisa Sponsored Position\nNo. This is not a Visa Sponsored Position.
