Throughout the summer, you’ll work cross functionally with data and technology teams, giving you real visibility into how data powers the business. Under the guidance of senior team members, you'll help monitor performance and support critical maintenance and troubleshooting efforts through automation, documentation, performance tuning, and data migration/disaster recovery efforts. \nResponsibilities:\nMonitor database health, performance, and availability \nAssist in performing routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and patching\nHelp troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents \nSupport the creation and maintenance of database documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures\nAssist with user access management, permissions, and basic security configurations\nWrite and optimize basic SQL queries for data retrieval, reporting, and troubleshooting\nCollaborate with software engineers and analysts to support data needs across teams\nHelp identify opportunities to automate repetitive operational tasks\nLearn and apply database performance tuning fundamentals (indexing, query optimization)\nAssist with data migration, replication, and disaster recovery testing efforts\nRequirements:\nPursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or related field and expected to graduate by Summer 2029\n\nUnderstanding of relational database concepts (tables, indexes, keys, normalization)\nFamiliarity with SQL and writing queries\nExposure to at least one database platform (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL)\nBasic understanding of Linux/Windows operating systems\nExperience coding in Python\n\nExposure to other scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, etc.)\n\nAbility to work onsite at our Chicago office 5 days per week\n\nAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment\nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail\nStrong communication skills and eagerness to learn\n\nCompensation Range: $40.00 per hour\nDVis not accepting unsolicited resumes from search firms.
