About Velonetic

With over 20 years of experience supporting the London insurance and reinsurance market, Velonetic plays a vital role in delivering high-quality claims services across a diverse range of classes of business.

About the role

Claims Adjuster role is aimed at candidates already operating within the London Market who can demonstrate hands-on responsibility for technical claims decisions. Working under the direction of a Team Manager, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality claims services, ensuring all work is completed accurately, efficiently and in line with agreed service levels.

You will exercise sound judgement, identify claim issues, manage priorities and support the resolution of more complex matters where appropriate, while building strong relationships with customers, brokers, underwriters and other market participants.

Preferred Classes of Business

We are particularly interested in candidates with claims adjusting or technical claims experience gained within one or more of the following classes of business:

  • Property
  • Casualty
  • Treaty
  • Reinsurance

For Aviation claims, we are also interested in candidates who may be earlier in their claims careers but can demonstrate relevant aviation claims experience and strong technical potential.

Essential Job Functions

  • Reviewing, validating and processing insurance claims documentation across a variety of classes of business, applying technical claims judgement and market knowledge to ensure appropriate outcomes.
  • Managing and adjusting claims in line with delegated authority, market requirements and agreed claims procedures, including identifying coverage, quantum, liability and settlement considerations where relevant.
  • Maintaining accurate claims records and documentation.
  • Liaising with customers, brokers, underwriters and other market participants to resolve queries, progress claims and support effective claims outcomes.
  • Investigating and analysing claims issues, identifying trends or technical concerns and escalating complex or sensitive cases where appropriate.
  • Preparing reports, updates and recommendations, ensuring agreed service levels, quality standards and regulatory or market expectations are met.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships and delivering excellent customer service.
  • Applying hands-on technical adjusting authority and responsibility for coverage, quantum, liability, reserving and settlement decisions, where relevant to the class of business.
  • Managing and adjusting claims from notification through to resolution, including stakeholder engagement, issue investigation, reserving and settlement.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrable and recent claims adjusting experience within the London Market insurance or reinsurance environment. This is an essential requirement.
  • Practical, hands-on experience across the claims lifecycle, including validation, coverage analysis, reserving, quantum and liability assessment, settlement decisions and escalation of complex matters.
  • Confidence working with brokers, underwriters, customers and internal stakeholders in a claims service environment.
  • Strong numeracy, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear claims updates, reports and recommendations.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office and business systems.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive mindset with a genuine interest in continuous improvement.

  • Practical experience of Lloyd's and/or Company Market claims processes, systems and working practices.
  • Claims adjusting across Property, Casualty, Reinsurance, Treaty and Facultative Reinsurance business.
  • Aviation claims handling or adjusting experience.
  • End-to-end claims adjustment and settlement activities gained in a London Market insurer, reinsurer, broker, third-party administrator or market services environment.
  • Working closely with customers, brokers and underwriters.
  • Strong understanding of insurance policy wordings and principles.
  • Experience working within delegated authority arrangements, claims reporting and market agreement processes.
  • Exposure to London Market claims platforms such as ECF, ECF2, IMR, Broker CLASS or equivalent systems.
