Learn more on dxc.com\nRemote in Canada\nThe person needs to reside in Canada\nCore Responsibilities\nMinimum 10 years of hands-on Db2 for z/OS and IMS DB/DC experience\nExperience supporting business-critical production and data-sharing environments\nKnowledge of IBM utility restart and recovery behavior\nKnowledge of DB2 Platinum utilities\nFamiliarity with ITIL incident, problem, and change practices\nAbility to participate in a formal on-call rotation\nStrong written communication and ability to produce technical runbooks\nExperience with IMS DBRC/RECON administration, DBD/PSB/ACB management, IMS recovery and reorganization utilities, Db2 BIND/REBIND and access-path analysis, Db2 backup/recovery utilities, and performance tuning in large-scale z/OS production environments\nDB2 & IMS Database Administration\nProvide day-to-day administration and production support for DB2 for z/OS and IMS databases.\nCreate, modify, maintain, monitor, and tune DB2 and IMS database objects.\nReview and implement database changes required by application and infrastructure teams.\nPerform database maintenance, upgrades, and technical changes, ensuring database environments remain stable and recoverable.\nAssist application teams with database design and database-related service requests.\nPerformance & Capacity Management\nMonitor database health, performance, storage utilization, and availability.\nAnalyze and troubleshoot DB2 and IMS performance issues.\nPerform SQL and database performance tuning.\nIdentify resource-intensive or poorly performing database workloads and recommend corrective actions.\nExecute and manage DB2 maintenance utilities such as REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, and UNLOAD.\nBackup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery\nMaintain and support DB2 and IMS backup and recovery procedures.\nEnsure critical databases meet established recoverability requirements.\nTroubleshoot database recovery issues and support restoration activities.\nParticipate in scheduled Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises and business continuity testing for DB2 and IMS environments.\nProduction & Operational Support\nTroubleshoot and resolve database incidents, problems, service requests, and changes.\nPerform root-cause analysis for database-related production issues.\nCoordinate with application, infrastructure, operations, and other technical teams during critical incidents.\nParticipate in planned maintenance and production implementations.\nMaintain appropriate technical and operational documentation.\nApplication DBA Support\nWork closely with application development teams on DB2/IMS database requirements.\nProvide technical recommendations for database-related application issues.\nRequired Technical Expertise\nPrimary skills\nStrong hands-on IBM DB2 for z/OS DBA experience.\nStrong hands-on IBM IMS DB administration experience.\nDB2/IMS performance monitoring and tuning.\nDB2/IMS backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.\nStrong understanding of z/OS mainframe environments.\nSQL and database troubleshooting.\nJCL.\nTSO/ISPF.\nPreferred Mainframe / IMS Skills\nExperience with several of the following would be beneficial:\nIMS/DC and IMS/TM\nVSAM / OSAM\nREXX\nCOBOL\nDFSORT\nIDCAMS\nSMP/E\nOMEGAMON\nBMC MainView for DB2/IMS\nCA/BMC database administration and performance tools\nDB2 Query Monitor / performance-monitoring tools\nWork Environment:\nRemote in Canada\nNote: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $92,100 - $142,100.Full-time hires are eligible to participate in the DXC benefit program.
