As a Laboratory Assistant you will be responsible for processing of laboratory specimens and/or entering requisitions and/or results accurately and in a timely manner and ensure quality control checks and standards are run as required. Your contributions will make a difference and will greatly impact the downstream solutions and treatment critical to saving someone’s life.\nStatus: Contract Full Time (6 months)\nVacancy Type: Existing\nShift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.\nDiscipline: Histology\nWork Style: Onsite\nLocation: 115 Midair Court, Brampton, ON\nInternal Posting Deadline: October 8, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.(EST)\nWhy Dynacare is an amazing place for YOU:\nJoin an award-winning \"Top Employer\" with meaningful and impactful career opportunities\nAccess a health and wellness benefits program that supports you and your loved ones\nGrow and thrive with a dynamic, successful company through internal mobility opportunities\nInvest in your future through RRSP match benefits and an employee stock purchase program \nExperience a collaborative, diverse workforce that prioritizes dignity and respect for all\nHow YOU will make a difference:\nData enter all patient and test information for MOH and Private client requisitions in an accurate and timely manner\nVerify the completeness of all documentation and file related paperwork\nHandle STAT, verbal, critical and special instructions as required\nProcess add-on test requests and subsequent specimen selection\nProcess all specimens including receiving, sorting, labeling, separation, and placing in appropriate area\nFollow all guidelines for the handling of infectious material\nSort and/or label all specimens received matching to the documentation provided\nPrioritize time sensitive specimens\nSeparate specimens to correct vials according to barcodes and type of test and ensure to place all specimens in appropriate area for testing and/or shipment to an outside laboratory\nResponsible for reference problem solving any outstanding reference results\nLiaise with various departments for any problems and inquiries\nResponsible for processing all clinical trials as required\nPerform routine pre-analytical equipment maintenance following documented procedures, as required\nPrepare specimens, and documentation and shipping for reference testing\nEnsure type of sample is correct for specified test and sent to correct reference laboratory\nResponsible for follow-up on missing samples, documentation, results, etc.\nWhat YOU bring to the role:\nLaboratory Assistant Program or minimum 1 year equivalent previous experience\nStrong specimen processing knowledge\nMLA Certification preferred \nExcellent data entry skills required (minimum 40 words per minute)\nAbility to handle incoming and outgoing phone calls and respond to changing priorities in a fast paced environment\nExcellent verbal and written English communication skills.\nStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team centered environment \nNice to have : Experience with AS400, Experience in Histology \nWorking Conditions:\nNormal office environment\nMedical laboratory environment\nRequired walking with repetitive motions\nMay sit or stand for prolonged period of time with extensive computer use\nRequired to lift a maximum of 30 pounds as required \nExposed to bio hazardous substances, temperature differences and noise variances \nPay rate: $19.75-$23.50 per hour\nThe hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to, level of experience and education requirements.\nAt Dynacare, we may leverage AI-powered tools in our recruitment process.
