Working as part of and leading a team, you will assist in building a positive team environment, maintaining quality metrics and creating the ideal customer experience.\nKEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:\nActs as first point of contact for operational and customer issues.\n\nAssist the Manager in coordinating workflow, staff training, competencies, evaluation and scheduling as instructed. Recommend changes to maintain high level of productivity in conjunction with the leadership of the Manager.\n\nEnsure all new and existing employees are properly trained including signing-off on competencies and other required documentation.\n\nEnsure specimens are correctly processed in a timely manner.\n\nEnsure that standards for technical efficiency, quality control and other government regulations are adhered to.\n\nAssist with the development, interpretation and implementation of related policies and procedures.\n\nProvide assistance to employees with the development, interpretation, implementation and updates of the department’s related policies, procedures, and manuals as required.\n\nCommunicate all issues to Manager and when Manager is absent; all communications should be to the designated replacement. Report all resolved or unresolved issues and complaints to the Manager.\n\nProvide guidance and report to Manager any investigation, documentation and implementation of preventative measures for all workplace accidents, injuries, and hazards.\n\nEnsure completion of health and safety and 5S reports\n\nEnsures that Quality Control/Quality Assurance is run according to department guidelines and with industry standards as well as signing on maintenance sheets.\n\nPerform regular Technician duties and when required, will act as the Lead Coordinator.\n\nOther duties as assigned\n\nSKILLED KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:\nKnowledge\nGraduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technician/Assistant course or equivalent years of experience in phlebotomy or medical laboratory.\n\nMedical terminology an asset.\n\nTechnical Skills\n3 or more years of experience working in a laboratory/Patient Service environment.\n\nPrevious experience with training employees.\n\nProficiency with Dynacare related software applications.\n\nSound knowledge of MANQAP requirements.\n\nMust have valid driver’s license and have a reliable vehicle.\n\nSocial Processing Skills\nMust demonstrate leadership skills via previous work experience, project work or in current role.\n\nMust be capable of working under moderate supervision and possess very strong problem-solving skills.\n\nMust be adaptable, demonstrate initiative, organize his/her work and exercise judgment.\n\nMust be able to work cooperatively and courteously with Laboratory staff and communicate effectively and tactfully at the same time\n\nAbility to multitask and work in a team environment.\n\nAbility to function in a fast-paced environment.\n\nAbility to work independently.\n\nExcellent communication skills\n\n***Please refer to Article 2 and 7 of the Collective Agreement regarding temporary positions, job postings, promotions and transfers***\n**This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
