This position sits within the Technology Systemteam, part of Dyson’s world class Research, Design and Development (RDD) department. We are a multi-disciplinary team responsible for developing the cutting edgetechnologies that enable our products to have market leading performance and win the hearts of our users. We own and deliver the user-facing, primary function systems of our products.
About the role
Working as part of a small team you will be responsible forproduct’ssystem performancesin the fieldsof Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, and Electrical Power management.You are required toset and control pressurebudgetsso that thermofluidssystem requirements are met. Similarly, you are required toset and control electrical budgets to ensure we can meet battery runtime requirements. You will be working with people from multi-disciplinaries, from Design teams to Manufacturing team, Motors team to Power Electronics teamto deliver system performancesat highest qualityfrom end to end. You will use a mixture of simulations, calculations, tests, and engineering judgement to solve problems that arise as we develop out technologies and products. You will work from early stage of a project, taking responsibility of development when the technologies leave the research stage, developing them to a feasiblesolution, and then supporting our SEA counterparts to take them through the production.
Your core day-to-day responsibilities will be to:
Identifyand manage product/sub-assembly/part level challenges associated withsystemperformancesand resolve them successfullyand independently.
Demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment while also working independently to achieve objectives .
Work side by side with theTech Leadand otherengineeringteamsforallocatedprojectsand provide technical consultancies.
Develop and maintainsystem diagram to govern pressure and power budgets, ensuring adherence by all relevant teams.
Conduct experiments and utilizeappropriate analysismethods and tools to develop and validatesolutions
Identifyrisk and keep all stakeholders up to dateon progressand status of allocatedprojects.
Familiarise oneself with relevant compliance standards to ensure product requirements are set and met accordingly
Confidently and clearly present and articulate ideas to audience in both written and verbal communications.
Drive data analysis, ensure robust test methodologyand conclusive proposals for timelydelivery of solutions and verification report using basic competency in MATLAB, Minitab, Exceland/or Python.
Ensure production testers are build robust with correct specifications are set.
Build and maintaineffective working relationships withengineers across cross-functional teamsat all levels.
About you
To be successful in this role, you should have Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.(other relevant engineering disciplines will be considered).
Experiences related to fluid dynamics/motorR&D/particles dynamics along with analysis, data integration in product development.
A sound understanding of experimental methods and processes, particularly regardingpressure, flow,andtemperaturemeasurement techniques.
Proven to have the technicalleadership and have good understanding of emerging new engineering development around the interaction between fluid, thermal, mechanicsand material science.
Proven record on the ability to lead multiple development projects based on strong senseof priority and system thinking.
A good understanding of the principles and application of CFD methods.
Application of any of the following tools and methodologies: CAD, MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, C/C++, NI DAQs, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, Arduino, Minitab, 8D problem solving, Lean Six Sigma, FMEA
Clear logical and critical thinking, with an attention to detail and deep passion for good design
High drive, sense of ownership, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment with a growth mindset
Strong interpersonal skills to lead, collaborate, and manage stakeholders, using written and verbal English. Mandarin would be an added advantage.
