Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, hardware, software, quality, and test professionals, you’ll contribute across the full product lifecycle-spanning EVT (Engineering Validation Test), DVT (Design Validation Test), and PVT (Production Validation Test) phases.\nThis role demands hands-on technical expertise in BMS firmware development, safety-critical software, and cross-functional collaboration across borders.\nKey Responsibilities\nArchitect and develop robust battery management system firmware for high-performance consumer electronics.\nImplement low-level drivers, middleware, and application layers on microcontrollers for battery systems using protocols like SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, ADC, and DMA.\nDesign algorithms for State of Charge (SOC) and State of Health (SOH) calculations, battery cell balancing, fault diagnostics, and event handling.\nComply with international standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 62133, and UL 1642 for functional safety, reliability, and quality.\nDefine and execute verification and validation strategies, ensuring product compliance with performance, safety, and reliability standards.\nLead functional, environmental, and durability testing for BMS software across EVT, DVT, and PVT phases.\nConduct in-depth failure analysis, root-cause investigation, and design optimization during validation cycles.\nWork closely with software, hardware, mechanical design, quality, and test teams to ensure system integration and product readiness.\nCollaborate with cell suppliers and equipment vendors to optimize testing tools, methodologies, and system validation.\nMentor engineers in software development, testing protocols, and project execution to nurture technical expertise and professional development.\nDrive collaboration and knowledge-sharing initiatives, fostering consistency across Dyson’s global engineering teams.\nAbout You\nTo excel in this role, you’ll need a combination of strong technical expertise, leadership ability, and innovation. You’ll thrive in fast-paced and challenging environments, leveraging your skills in embedded systems firmware development and cross-functional collaborations.\nEssential Skills & Qualifications\nEducation:BEng, MSc, or PhD in Electrical, Electronics, Embedded Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.\nStrong academic background focused on embedded firmware design, battery systems, and technical problem-solving.\n\nExperience:Preferably 6+ years of professional experience in BMS firmware/software development, particularly in consumer electronics, automotive, or aerospace industries.\nProven expertise in embedded systems programming for battery systems using microcontrollers (TI TMS570, LTC6813, ARM Cortex, STM32 series).\nHands-on experience in cell testing, battery degradation analysis, state estimation, and robust system design for lithium-ion technologies.\n\n Technical Proficiency:In-depth knowledge of embedded protocols (SPI, CAN, UART, ADC), battery communication interfaces, and real-time operating systems (e.g., FreeRTOS, Micrium uC/OS).\nSkilled in functional safety standards (ISO 26262), fault management in BMS firmware development, and compliance standards (IEC 62133, UL 1642).\nFamiliarity with BMS hardware platforms and tools such as TI BQ Studio, MATLAB, and Simulink.\nAbility to develop bootloaders, memory management, and scalable modular software components.\nProgramming proficiency: Embedded C, Python, Ruby, Make.\n\nCollaboration & Leadership:Experienced in working with cross-functional teams spanning software, hardware, quality, and mechanical engineering globally.\nStrong communication skills to articulate technical insights to a wide range of stakeholders, including teams, suppliers, and senior management.\n\nDesirable Skills\nExperience in connected BMS systems involving BLE/Wi-Fi interfaces for consumer products.\nExperience in working with RISC-V microcontrollers.\n\nKnowledge of agile development cycles and test automation frameworks.\nExpertise in implementing machine learning algorithms for predictive diagnostics in battery systems.\nAt Dyson we are encouraged to think differently, challenge convention and be unafraid to make mistakes.
