You will lead site-level maintenance systems, drive equipment reliability performance, and provide technical leadership to ensure our manufacturing operations continue to run safely, efficiently and sustainably.\nAbout the role\nAs Lead Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the end-to-end maintenance and equipment reliability strategy across SAM. You will work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, EHS, suppliers and technical teams to improve equipment uptime, reduce repeat failures, strengthen maintenance standards and build long-term technical capability within the team.\nKey responsibilities:\nLead and drive equipment reliability performance across multiple lines, improving OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and yield through structured interventions.\nEstablish and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance frameworks, ensuring standardisation and effectiveness across SAM.\nOwn and lead complex technical escalations, driving deep root cause analysis for major breakdowns, repeat failures, and quality-impacting issues.\nDevelop and standardise maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and engineering documentation to ensure consistency and audit readiness.\nBuild and strengthen maintenance team capability, providing coaching, technical guidance, and structured training to engineers and technicians.\nLead equipment readiness and reliability input for new equipment introduction, commissioning, and production ramp-up.\nManage and optimise maintenance costs, including spare parts strategy, vendor performance, and service contracts.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, TPM, Six Sigma, and reliability engineering methodologies to reduce downtime and improve productivity.\nEnsure compliance with EHS, regulatory, and Dyson standards, maintaining safe maintenance practices and audit-ready systems.\nAbout you\nDegree qualified in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or a related Engineering discipline.\nExperienced in maintenance or equipment engineering within an advanced manufacturing environment, ideally across multiple production areas.\nStrong background in equipment reliability, downtime reduction, maintenance strategy and technical problem solving.\nConfident troubleshooting automated equipment, including PLCs, robotics, servo systems, vision systems, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and control systems.\nAble to apply structured problem-solving tools such as 5 Whys, FMEA, Fishbone analysis and failure analysis.\nEffective in stakeholder management, vendor engagement, coaching and communicating technical issues clearly across different audiences.\nHighly accountable, resilient and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nAbility to distinguish between coloured wires, signals, indicators, or labels, which is required and critical for safe performance of duties.\nBenefits\nYou will be part of a highly collaborative engineering and manufacturing environment where ideas, ownership and continuous improvement matter.
