We’re driven by progress and thrive on the challenge of relentless improvement.\nAbout the role\nThe Lead Technical Project Manager is a pivotal role within the Software, Hardware and Power Systems programme, responsible for independently delivering complex projects within a defined technology or product area. This role acts as a single point of contact within NPD and across Software, Hardware and Power System, ensuring technical excellence, robust project delivery, and effective stakeholder engagement.\nReporting to the Senior Programme Manager, you will lead and drive projects, working with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers. You will be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle, ensuring technical risks are identified and mitigated, and that project objectives are met on time, on spec, on quality and within budget. The role requires solid understanding, especially in the embedded software and hardware development, hence the ability to communicate project status and risks to senior management, and to collaborate with engineering, operations, quality teams, and key suppliers effectively.\nAccountabilities\nIndependently lead and deliver complex projects within the Software, Hardware, and Product Solutions (SWHW&PS) domain, balancing technical, schedule, scope, quality, and resource constraints. \nServe as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring clear, effective, and timely communication throughout the project lifecycle. \nDevelop and execute project communication plans, providing stakeholders with accurate, concise, and actionable updates. \nCollaborate with external partners and suppliers to ensure deliverables meet agreed milestones, quality standards, and business objectives. \nOwn resource allocation, project financials, including budget management and CAPEX planning, ensuring strong financial governance and alignment with business priorities. \nDevelop, maintain, and drive execution of Level 0-2 project plans, proactively managing dependencies, prioritizing activities, and escalating unresolved issues when required. \nEnsure project readiness and compliance with all applicable safety, security, regulatory, manufacturing, and quality requirements. \nMaintain accurate and timely project KPI reporting, providing a clear and transparent view of project health, risks, and performance. \nChampion the adoption of product development processes, engineering best practices, and delivery discipline across project teams. \nProactively identify, assess, and resolve project issues and risks, ensuring effective risk management, mitigation planning, and end-to-end requirements traceability. \nDrive cross-functional collaboration and alignment to achieve project objectives and deliver successful business outcomes. \nCoach, mentor, and support the development of junior project managers and team members, fostering growth and capability building. \nPromote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and high performance across the project team. \nEnsure lessons learned are captured and applied to improve project execution, delivery efficiency, and organizational capability. \nAbout you\nSkills\nFirst Degree (Engineering preferable) or equivalent. \nProject Management or Project Lead with delivery responsibility \nProduct development - Hardware or Software is a plus \nStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project and Teams. \nDemonstrated understanding of other commonly used project development tools and methodologies - e.g. Atlassian’s Confluence & JIRA \nDemonstrated ability to independently deliver complex engineering projects. \nStrong knowledge of risk management, requirements management, and stakeholder engagement. \nMandarin language capability would be advantageous when working with China-based suppliers and partners but is not essential. \nExperience\nMinimum of 5 years project management experience in a high-technology engineering field, demonstrating a solid understanding of the complete project lifecycle. \nMinimum of 5 years of experience in Hardware and Software product development within the IoT, Consumer Electronics, or Automotive industries. \nDemonstrated experience managing cross-functional engineering teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to successfully deliver complex technology projects. \nStrong understanding of product development methodologies, engineering processes, risk management, and project governance. \nExperience working with global teams and external partners in a fast-paced, matrixed organization is highly desirable. \nBehavioural\nOutstanding project management capabilities and in-depth knowledge of fundamental PM principles (estimating and planning, risk management, status reporting, budget tracking, benefits analysis, stakeholder management and communication, resource management). \nStrong communicator; able to convey complex issues concisely and accurately. \nExcellent interpersonal skills; able to build productive working relationships and influence others. \nStrong leadership skills; able to form and lead high-performing teams. \nEffective manager of multicultural teams across different sites and countries, balancing hard and soft skills. \nExcellent analytical skills; able to assess problems thoroughly and drive logical conclusions. \nConfident and credible; able to interact with senior executives and demonstrate a strong understanding of engineering processes. \nAble to multi-task and plan effectively in high-pressure, competitive environments. \nCommercially aware. \nCommitted to personal and team development; champions a culture of continuous improvement. \nBenefits\nDyson Malaysia monitors the market to ensure competitive salaries and bonuses.
