You’ll be part of a world-class research team to design, prototype, and deliver robust perception solutions for Dyson’s next-generation robotic platforms. We value initiative, creativity, and a strong desire to solve meaningful real-world problems.\nKey Responsibilities:\nCommunicate complex concepts clearly within a cross-functional, multicultural team.\nTake ownership and work autonomously to deliver against ambitious goals.\nDesign, implement, and evaluate novel perception algorithms for real-world robotic challenges.\nBuild and rigorously test prototypes-across simulation and hardware-to assess performance and reliability.\nIdentify and resolve challenging edge cases encountered in domestic environments.\nCollaborate with engineers from multiple disciplines to create systems that balance physical, computational, and cost constraints.\nDevelop software in Python and/or C++; deploy and test solutions on prototype or target hardware.\nApply state-of-the-art machine learning and image processing methods suited to embedded robotic platforms.\nStay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices in academic and industrial robotics.\nAbout You\nAdvanced degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering or a related field, focused on sensing and perception.\nProven experience with a range of sensing technologies, including integration and system-level understanding.\nSkilled in designing, developing, and testing both hardware and software prototypes.\nExpertise in modern machine learning and embedded computer vision, including object detection, tracking, point cloud registration, and semantic segmentation.\nHands-on experience with training and evaluating deep learning models.\nExperience with vision-language models (VLMs, VLAs) and large language models (LLMs).\nHighly self-motivated and passionate about innovation in interdisciplinary settings.\nStrong Python programming skills and familiarity with open-source robotics tools.\nRobust experience developing and deploying software in Linux environments, following contemporary best practices.\nDesirable:\n3+ years of hands-on experience in robotics.\nExperience with complex, highly articulated mobile robots in real-world settings.\nProficiency in robotics simulation platforms (e.g. Gazebo, PyBullet).\nPractical experience with Time-of-Flight or RGB camera sensors.\nDyson is an equal opportunity employer.
