Dyson is a technology company founded in 1991 by James Dyson after he built more than five thousand prototypes of a bagless vacuum cleaner that no established manufacturer would license. It applies high-speed digital motors and airflow engineering across vacuum cleaners, hair care products including the Supersonic and Airwrap, air purifiers, lighting and headphones, and sells almost entirely direct to consumers at premium prices. The company moved its head office from Wiltshire to Singapore in 2019 to sit closer to its Asian manufacturing and markets, remains privately held by the Dyson family, and funds an engineering university at its Malmesbury campus.
Dyson Global IT

At Dyson, we demand the highest standard of performance from the technologies we engineer. Our people expect the same from the technology that supports them. We are a community that appreciates and advocates better engineering. A community of pioneers.

Dyson IT is mid-transformation. Our aim is to create robust IT architecture, manage data effectively and efficiently, and continue to grow a world-class team that is strategic, enabling business acceleration, growth and success.

Our IT Group Support Functions Team

Dyson’s IT Group Support Functions team exists to delight our business stakeholders by partnering with them to define and deliver technology roadmaps that support business strategy and objectives.

IT Group Support Functions team context

IT Group Support Functions is made up of the following teams: Supply Chain, Finance & DBS, HR, Legal, Estates & Facilities, and Digital Workplace.

The team has global responsibility for end-to-end business relationships and technical product management across its functions: from ideation, roadmap definition and business case creation, through to delivery execution, enhancements, operations, and eventual product replacement or retirement.

Within IT Group Support Functions, the Finance Systems Team partners globally with Finance and Dyson Business Services to run, enhance and transform the platforms that support Dyson’s finance processes, controls, reporting and operational performance.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of IT - Finance Systems, the Technical Product Owner - SAP Finance, Tax & Customs will act as a technical and functional authority across Dyson’s SAP Finance landscape, with a particular focus on tax, statutory compliance, e-invoicing, customs-related finance processes and global regulatory requirements.

The role works closely with Finance, Tax, Dyson Business Services, Supply Chain, regional operating markets, product owners, business analysts, architects, project managers, vendors and service partners to shape, deliver and continuously improve finance technology products and services that support compliant and efficient business operations worldwide.

This role combines hands-on SAP Finance expertise with strong knowledge of tax and compliance-related business processes. The successful candidate will translate evolving business, regulatory and statutory requirements into practical technical solutions, maintain a value-driven product roadmap and backlog, guide delivery teams, protect solution integrity, and ensure globally consistent and compliant finance processes.

While awareness of customs processes and global trade compliance concepts is valuable, this is not intended to be a specialist SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) role. The emphasis is on finance-centric SAP design, tax compliance, statutory reporting and the integration points between Finance, Supply Chain and external compliance processes.

Main Job Responsibilities

  • Act as an internal consultant and trusted advisor to Finance, Tax, Shared Services and Supply Chain stakeholders on complex tax, compliance and finance systems challenges.
  • Provide specialist subject matter expertise across SAP Finance processes relating to indirect tax, VAT, GST, sales tax, withholding tax, customs duties and statutory compliance obligations.
  • Lead the discovery, design and implementation of technology solutions supporting global tax compliance, statutory reporting, e-invoicing, digital reporting and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Finance and Tax teams to assess the impact of legislative and regulatory changes on business processes, controls, reporting and technology platforms.
  • Act as the technical and functional authority for SAP finance solutions supporting tax determination, tax calculation, tax reporting, tax reconciliation and compliance monitoring processes.
  • Provide or oversee hands-on SAP configuration and system setup where required, ensuring changes are aligned to approved solution design, governance standards and compliance requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and design governance across SAP S/4HANA Finance, SAP FICO, SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, Fiori applications and relevant integration technologies.
  • Understand customs-related business processes and financial impacts, including duties, tariffs, landed costs, import and export compliance requirements, and associated finance controls.
  • Translate business requirements into clear functional and technical requirements, solution options, design artefacts and delivery-ready backlog items.
  • Support solution architecture and technical design decisions ensuring scalability, maintainability, auditability and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for simplification, automation and standardisation of finance, tax and compliance processes through technology innovation and process optimisation.
  • Design and support governance and control frameworks that ensure finance and tax processes remain compliant, efficient, secure and resilient.
  • Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Commercial, Logistics and external compliance providers where tax and customs processes intersect with operational workflows.
  • Prioritise system enhancements and technical investments based on business value, compliance risk, operational efficiency and strategic roadmap alignment.
  • Manage relationships with implementation partners, support providers and specialist advisory firms to ensure high-quality delivery outcomes.
  • Support finance transformation initiatives, ERP modernisation programmes and global process harmonisation efforts across Dyson’s international operations.
