Join us.\nPosition Title: Mechanical Engineer, UAS\nLocation: Irvine, CA\nWork Arrangement: 100% On-site\nPosition Summary\nWe are seeking a Mechanical Engineer, UAS to design and develop airframe structures and mechanical assemblies for unmanned aircraft systems. This role involves creating robust, lightweight components, integrating subsystems within defined aircraft volumes, and supporting the full lifecycle from concept through build and test.\nWorking as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will contribute to detailed mechanical design, component packaging, and production-ready documentation. Candidates should be comfortable collaborating closely with manufacturing and test personnel to ensure designs are practical, efficient to build, and aligned with performance and reliability goals.\nThis position offers the opportunity to apply strong mechanical fundamentals, hands-on problem solving, and design-for-manufacturing principles to drive high-quality hardware into prototype and production environments.\nRequired Duties and Responsibilities:\nDevelop airframe structures, mechanical components, and assemblies for unmanned aircraft systems.\nIntegrate mechanical, electrical, propulsion, and avionics subsystems within defined aircraft volumes.\nCreate detailed CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings that meet quality and configuration standards.\nApply mechanical engineering fundamentals to support sizing, basic structural assessment, tolerance considerations, and design trade studies.\nCollaborate with manufacturing to incorporate design-for-manufacturing principles and ensure efficient, repeatable builds.\nSupport fabrication, assembly, ground testing, and flight testing through hands-on troubleshooting and issue resolution.\nIncorporate feedback from testing, integration, and production into iterative design improvements.\nWork effectively with cross-functional engineering teams and communicate technical status clearly\nRequired Skills/Qualifications:\n4+ years of mechanical engineering experience in aerospace, robotics, or electromechanical systems.\nProficiency with 3D CAD tools for part and assembly design (SolidWorks preferred).\nExperience generating production-ready mechanical drawings and documentation.\nUnderstanding of structural behavior, mechanical design principles, and lightweight component design.\nFamiliarity with GD&T and engineering drawing standards.\nStrong communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary environment.\nPreferred Skills/Qualifications:\nExperience with DFM, DFA, or production-oriented mechanical design practices.\nBackground working with composite or lightweight metallic structures.\nHands-on experience supporting prototype hardware builds, mechanical integration, or test operations.\nExposure to FEA tools or structural analysis workflows (expertise not required).\nExperience with unmanned aircraft, flight hardware, or other mission-critical mechanical systems\nEducation:\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM field from an accredited institution\nClearance Level Required: No clearance required.\nExport Control / ITAR Requirement: This position requires access to information and technology subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible for an annual bonus.
