Learn more at www.esource.com\nAs a Senior Transmission Planning Consultant, you'll lead high-impact studies and consulting engagements for electric utilities, ISOs/RTOs, cooperatives, and other industry stakeholders. You'll oversee and execute advanced transmission planning studies, including transient stability, power flow, transfer capability, reliability, short-circuit, and economic dispatch analysis, to support client decision-making and regulatory compliance, serving as a trusted advisor who engages directly with clients to define objectives, design methodologies, and deliver actionable results. This is a senior, client-facing role that blends deep technical expertise with strong project leadership: the ideal candidate is a seasoned consultant who thrives on solving complex challenges, mentoring teams, and ensuring deliverables meet both technical and business objectives.\nIn this role, you will:\nLead and manage transmission planning studies, including stability, power flow, reliability, short-circuit, and congestion management analyses.\n\nServe as the primary client contact, driving project scope, methodologies, and deliverables.\n\nProvide technical oversight, quality assurance, and guidance to junior engineers and consultants.\n\nPrepare and present detailed technical reports documenting assumptions, methodologies, and results.\n\nContribute to business development by supporting proposals, client meetings, and thought leadership.\n\nCollaborate with senior leadership to shape service offerings and enhance technical capabilities.\n\nMentor and train less experienced staff, fostering knowledge transfer and professional development.\n\nYou’re likely a great fit if you:\nHave proven success managing complex technical studies and project teams.\n\nCan navigate challenges, resolve obstacles, and adapt your approach to meet client needs.\n\nCommunicate and present clearly, with experience in client-facing consulting roles.\n\nEnjoy training and mentoring junior engineers.\n\nBring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking.\n\nAnd even better if you:\nHave experience with Aspen, EasyPower, PSLF, EMTP/ATP, PSCAD, or PROMOD.\n\nHave experience with harmonics analysis.\n\nAre comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment.\n\nExperience and Skills to Qualify Include:\nB.S. in electrical engineering or a related field; M.S. with 12+ years, Ph.D. with 8+ years, or B.S. with 15+ years of relevant experience in transmission planning, operations, or consulting.\n\nIn-depth knowledge of transmission system planning processes, methodologies, and industry practices.\n\nExperience with transient stability, short-circuit, voltage, production costing, TPL compliance, and generator interconnection analysis.\n\nStrong competency in PSS/E (required).\n\nStrong experience with Transmission Adequacy & Reliability Assessment (TARA), including reliability and contingency (N-1) analysis, flowgate analysis, and assessing import/export limits for resource adequacy.\n\nFamiliarity with NERC, FERC, and ISO/RTO requirements and processes (for example, PJM, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, NYISO, or ISO-NE).\n\nProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).\n\nAt E Source, you’ll work alongside people who are thoughtful, curious, and deeply knowledgeable about utility and energy systems.
