Canadian Solar is one of the most bankable companies in the solar and renewable energy industry.\nFor additional information about Canadian Solar, visit www.canadiansolar.com\nPosition Title: Project Manager\nEntity: e-STORAGE\nLocation: Japan\nPosition Summary:\nThe Project Manager will be responsible for managing the execution of BESS projects from Limited Notice to Proceed activities through to Final Completion. This includes managing and coordinating all related activities with various stakeholders, including internal departments, the client/owner, equipment vendors, EPCs and general contractors, and various subcontractors to provide a 'turn-key' BESS project. A significant amount of project management and EPC construction experience is required, as well as demonstrated influence, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.\nResponsibilities\nManage the execution of one or more cross-functional projects of medium to high complexity (quality, scope, schedule, cost, communication, resource issues, risks, and customer satisfaction).\nServe as the primary point of contact by establishing, maintaining, and managing customer, subcontractor, and joint venture partner expectations (where applicable) relating to project performance.\nAssemble project plans and teamwork assignments, direct and monitor work efforts on a daily basis, identify resource needs, perform quality reviews, and escalate functionality, quality, and timeline issues appropriately.\nCoordinate communication with all areas of the organization that impacts the scope, budget, risk, and resources of the work effort being managed.\nDetermine and assess the need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during the project cycle.\nDetermine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.\nDefine project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project lifecycle.\nCoach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.\nBuild, develop, and grow business relationships vital to the success of the project.\nConduct project post-mortems and create recommendation reports to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.\nDevelop best practices and tools for project execution and management.\nEnsure all environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures are followed.\nComplete other duties and projects as assigned.\nLNTP\nSupport Sales and Application Engineering teams with due diligence of storage project opportunities whenever required.\nWork in conjunction with in-house system designers and subcontractors to prepare project-specific system design plans that consider customer site and project considerations as well as pertinent local codes and regulations whenever required.\nSupport commercial and legal teams in preparing and negotiating EPC contracts.\nEngineering\nDirect and support the Project Engineer in leading the engineering activities.\nAttend project engineering meetings led by the client or engineering team to stay updated on all engineering activities.\nProcurement and Construction\nOversee project execution to ensure that all systems are installed according to plan and that there are no technical installation errors that would decrease system performance or lifespan or cause potential system failure.\nDevelop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.\nIdentify and manage project dependencies and critical paths.\nSet and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.\nDelegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.\nDirect and support the Project Coordinator in coordinating day-to-day project management activities.\nIdentify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.\nProactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.\nMonitor the status of the project to ensure documentation is submitted according to schedule\nReview and verify project documents for completeness, format, and compliance with contract requirements.\nSet up recurring meetings/calls with major equipment vendors to align engineering, logistical, and commercial aspects.\nSet up and lead weekly and monthly meetings with the client to present project progress and status.\nQuality and H&S\nEnsure site construction activities adhere to established safety requirements and construction protocols.\nCoordinate supplier quality audits in collaboration with Procurement and Quality teams.\nMonitor documentation submission status.\nReview and verify project documents for completeness, format, and compliance with contract requirements.\nReporting\nReport project status and performance data to management, project sponsors, and stakeholders.\nPromote transparent communication and use of company project management platforms and tools.\nCollaborate with execution team leadership to implement state-of-the-art project management tools.\nMaintain and report monthly on project budget and payment status.\nQualifications and Skills\nEngineering (Electrical or Mechanical) degree or diploma (preferred).\nMinimum 5 years’ experience managing construction projects, preferably utility-scale renewable projects.\nStrong negotiation, facilitation, risk management, and consensus-building skills.\nKnowledge of general and national codes, medium-voltage power systems, and photovoltaic or energy storage system applications.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.\nProven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.\nExpert knowledge of business requirements, work plans, schedules, and project artifacts.\nProfessional-level capability with project management tools (MS 365, Microsoft Project, P6).\nValid driver’s license with clean driving record.\nAbility to travel to domestic locations as required.\nAbility to work independently and in a team
