To accelerate the world’s renewable energy transition and create a more sustainable, resilient energy future for everyone.\nWith our innovative SolBank lithium-iron phosphate battery technology and comprehensive project services, we’re not just building products we’re powering communities and making a difference worldwide.\nPosition Title: Senior DSP Firmware Engineer\nDepartment: Inverter Firmware\nCompensation: $100,000 - $150,000 + annual bonus \nReports To: Director of Digital Inverter Firmware\nLocation: Kitchener, Ontario - Hybrid\nAbout the Role:\nThe Senior DSP Firmware Engineer owns the design, development, optimization, and lifecycle support of real-time embedded firmware for inverters used in utility- energy storage systems. This role requires deep expertise in Texas Instruments DSP platforms, inverter control firmware, and grid-code compliance.\n Responsibilities:\nDesign and implement scalable DSP firmware architectures for inverters using TI DSP platforms\n\nDevelop deterministic real-time control firmware in embedded C, including fast control loops, interrupt handling, and peripheral configuration\n\nTranslate system, control, and grid-code requirements into traceable firmware requirements and robust designs\n\nImplement inverter features such as grid synchronization, protections, fault handling, diagnostics, and monitoring\n\nSupport compliance with grid and firmware standards (UL 1741 SB, IEEE 1547, UL 1998) and certification testing activities\n\nCollaborate with hardware, controls, systems, and validation teams to ensure system-level performance and reliability\n\nDebug complex firmware issues, perform root-cause analysis, and optimize performance using lab tools and emulators\n\nParticipate in firmware architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical risk assessments\n\nMaintain clear firmware documentation and contribute to process improvement and release quality\n\n Required Qualifications and Skills:\nEducational background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field\n\nAt least 5 years' of experience in professional firmware development experience in embedded or real-time control systems\n\nExpert proficiency with Texas Instruments DSP platforms (e.g., C2000), including ADCs, PWMs, DMA, peripherals, memory management, and bootloaders\n\nAbility to optimize execution time, numerical performance, and memory usage for fast control and protection functions\n\nExperience with firmware verification strategies, power conversion simulation, Hardware-in-the-Loop and integration testing\n\nHands-on experience with Code Composer Studio (CCS), debugging, profiling, and emulation\n\nStrong embedded C programming skills for real-time, safety-critical power electronics applications\n\ne-STORAGE is Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
