At E2, we value safety, innovation and collaboration, and we are dedicated to excellence.\nOverview\nThe Substation Engineering Manager will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team in delivering high-quality substation design and engineering services. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing project design deliverables, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation for substation projects supporting one of Southern California’s largest electric utility clients and will report directly to the Substation Department Manager.\nResponsibilities\nLead and manage the substation engineering design team, including electrical P&C and Physical design engineers.\nMonitor project schedules and budgets, ensuring department performance goals are met.\nManage resource allocation, staffing, recruiting, and performance evaluations.\nConduct design reviews, implement corrective actions of engineering documents including design drawings and bills of materials.\nProvide technical guidance to engineering design team for substation projects.\nCoordinate with project management, clients, utilities, sub-contractors, and construction teams to align project goals and ensure technical accuracy.\nSupport business development efforts by contributing to proposals, scope development, and client presentations.\nPromote a strong safety culture and adherence to industry codes (e.g., IEEE, NESC, NEC).\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nRequired\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.\n10+ years of experience in substation engineering and design, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.\nStrong knowledge of substation systems 4kV to 500 kV, protection and control, grounding, and physical design.\nExperience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.\nExperience performing quality reviews of substation engineering drawing packages.\nProficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar design tools.\nExcellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.\nPreferred\nLicensed Professional Engineer (PE).\nExperience with Southern California utility clients and understanding of their engineering standards.\nFamiliarity with FERC/NERC requirements and other regulatory guidelines.\n PMP Certification or formal project management training.\nBenefits\nE2 Consulting Engineers, LP offers an excellent benefits package including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, 401(k) with employer match, paid time off.\nWage Data Per State Requirements\nThe Salary range for this position is $180,000 - $220,000.The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.\nWork Environment/Physical Demands\nWork Environment\nThis job operates in a professional office environment and uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.\nPhysical Demands\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
