Key Responsibilities and Job Dimensions\n\nKey Duties and Responsibilities:\n\nStrategy and Planning\n\nDevelop and implement comprehensive business development strategies aligned with organizational goals.\n\nConduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends and business opportunities.\n\nSet targets, KPIs, and growth plans for the business development team.\n\nClient Acquisition and Relationship Management\n\nIdentify, engage, and secure new clients or partners across sectors and regions.\n\nMaintain and deepen relationships with key existing clients to foster loyalty and upsell opportunities.\n\nLead contract negotiations and close business deals.\n\nPartnerships and Alliances\n\nIdentify and develop strategic alliances with stakeholders such as financial institutions, government agencies, NGOs, and private sector players.\n\nManage collaboration frameworks and joint venture opportunities.\n\nTeam Leadership and Capacity Building\n\nManage and mentor the business development team to ensure performance excellence.\n\nOversee training and development initiatives to build team capabilities.\n\nReporting and Performance Monitoring\n\nPrepare regular business development reports and market intelligence for senior management.\n\nMonitor progress against targets and implement corrective actions as needed.\n\nDecision Making/ Job Influence\n\nMakes strategic and operational decisions regarding market entry, client targeting, and resource allocation.\n\nInfluences organizational strategy through market insights and client feedback\n\nWorking Conditions\n\nOffice-based in the host country with frequent in-country and regional travel.\n\nField visits to project sites, partner offices, and ministries required.\n\nMay be required to work extended hours to meet deadlines or respond to client needs.\n\nQualifications, Skills and Experience:\n\nA Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or related field is required.\n\nBachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field.\n\nProfessional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies\n\nRelevant certification is an added advantage.\n\nPrevious relevant work experience required\n\nAt least 7 years of experience in business development, project finance, or investment management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory and client-facing role.\n\nProven experience in working with government agencies, private sector players, and development partners in the country.\n\nFunctional Skills: Behavioural\n\nCompetencies/Attributes:\n\nStrong negotiation, networking, and communication skills.\n\nStrategic thinker with excellent analytical abilities.\n\nStrong interpersonal and diplomatic skills\n\nStrategic mindset with problem-solving ability\n\nLeadership and team management experience.\n\nResults-driven with strong customer focus.\n\nHigh levels of integrity, accountability, and professionalism\n\nExcellent communication and presentation skills\n\nResult-oriented and able to work independently in diverse environments\n\nCultural sensitivity and adaptability\n\nHow to Apply:\n\nTo apply, kindly send detailed up to date CVs be sent to:  by 23rd October 2026 with Principal Officer Business Development as the email subject and indicate your expected gross salary in your application.
