We provide millions of customers with access to their money across a variety of payment rails, including debit, RTP, and more, moving billions of dollars annually. Our systems support real-time and scheduled transfers, and let us track outcomes, reconcile discrepancies, and respond to returns, chargebacks, and other events. Because these live services move real money around the clock, reliability matters as much as features. We seek experienced, collaborative, and resourceful senior engineers who have owned always-on production services and take pride in keeping them healthy. As a senior engineer, you will work cross-functionally and contribute to the design, development, and operation of our backend services. At EarnIn, working with AI is expected, not optional. We use AI tools every day to design, build, test, and operate our systems, and we expect our engineers to do the same.\nThis position will ideally be hybrid at our Mexico City office as part of our expanding site, though remote work is possible. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO\nDrive the design and implementation of new features. Break down complex problems to their essentials, translate that complexity into elegant design, and write high-quality, maintainable code.\nOwn the health of the services you build: participate in the team’s on-call rotation, respond to alerts and incidents, and drive them through resolution and blameless postmortems.\nUse AI tools in your daily workflow, from design and coding to testing, debugging, and incident response, and help raise the bar for how our team uses AI while staying accountable for the quality and safety of what ships.\nImprove reliability and observability by building monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and runbooks that help us detect and resolve issues before our community feels them.\nDebug production issues across our services infrastructure and multiple levels of our stack.\nDesign and deliver robust microservice integrations via REST/gRPC APIs and messaging patterns (events/queues).\nCreate and maintain test automation to enable continuous integration and development velocity.\nCollaborate with and mentor other engineers through code, design, and architecture reviews, including coaching teammates on operational readiness.\nWork cross-functionally with data science, design, product, finance, accounting, and analytics.\nWork with distributed systems and care passionately about producing high-quality code.\nMake a meaningful impact on the lives of our community members.\nWHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR\nProven experience supporting live, production services, including participating in an on-call rotation and responding to incidents under pressure.\n4+ years of delivering value through software in a collaborative environment.\nExperience working in microservice architectures is required.\nExperience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Datadog) and a track record of improving service reliability, such as better alerting, faster recovery, or fewer repeat incidents.\nHands-on experience using AI coding and productivity tools in your day-to-day engineering work, with good judgment about when to trust their output and when to verify it.\nProficient in at least one modern programming language and able to understand more than one; we currently work in C#.\nHands-on experience working with SQL databases.\nExperience with continuous integration and delivery tools.\nExperienced in developing and executing functional and integration tests.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear communication during incidents.\nSelf-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.\nExperience with financial systems, payments, or ledgers, where correctness and auditability are a plus \n#LI-Hybrid #LI-Remote\nAt EarnIn, we believe that the best way to build a financial system that works for everyday people is by hiring a team that represents our diverse community.
