If you enjoy turning innovative ideas into scalable solutions, influencing both what we build and how we build it, and working with a collaborative team, we’d love to meet you.\nWhat you’ll do:\nLead the team’s day-to-day work, guiding projects from technical design through successful delivery\nEvaluate emerging tools, frameworks, and architectures through focused POCs, and turn successful experiments into production-ready solutions\nDrive the adoption of AI-assisted engineering across coding, testing, and code review, while measuring its impact on quality and delivery speed\nEstablish best practices and guardrails for AI-driven development, and promote them across the R&D organization\nPartner with Product, Data Science, and Architecture to build AI-powered capabilities into the Analytics & Modeling Service\nOwn the architecture, APIs, and data models of the team’s components, balancing performance, scalability, reliability, and cost\nDeliver product capabilities and build the infrastructure required to support performance and scale\nWork directly with insurers’ business and IT teams to understand requirements, discuss architecture, integration, deployment, security, and infrastructure, demonstrate new capabilities, and incorporate customer feedback into the product\nHire, onboard, mentor, and develop team members and future leaders as the group grows\nFoster a collaborative, open, and supportive culture\nRequirements\nYou’ll do it using:\n3-5 years of proven experience as a team lead in a fast-paced environment\nStrong proficiency in Java, with hands-on experience in performance and scale of Java applications on cloud services\nStrong system design skills: Proven experience designing scalable, distributed, cloud-based systems, including services, APIs, data flows and infrastructure, and taking them from design to production\nExperience with relational databases (advantage: JPA / Hibernate / EclipseLink)\nDeep understanding of cloud platforms (advantage: AWS: EC2, S3, ECS autoscaling, RDS)\nHands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) and a clear view on how they change engineering work\nA track record of evaluating new technologies and leading POCs to production adoption\nAdvantage:\nExperience building with LLMs / GenAI (APIs, agents, RAG, MCP, prompt and evaluation practices)\nExperience in customer-facing technical work, such as requirements gathering, technical discussions with client IT teams, or product demos\nExperience defining engineering processes or methodologies at team or group level\nFamiliarity with Spark\nFrontend knowledge (React, JavaScript, TypeScript).\nYou’ll excel by:\nBeing curious and quick to experiment, comfortable with ambiguity and with moving fast from idea to POC to decision\nBringing a pragmatic, evidence-based approach to new technology: knowing when to adopt, when to wait, and when to drop\nCollaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and communicating ideas clearly\nBeing comfortable in front of customers, able to explain complex technical topics clearly to both technical and business audiences\nUsing strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to solve complex technical challenges\nBeing a motivated self-learner who drives innovation and raises the bar for others\nThinking like an owner, taking initiative and owning the success of our new product\nPosition Intro\nEarnix is the first AI company purpose-built for insurance decisioning, providing the industry with the intelligence, governance, and decisioning agility to drive profitable growth, improve resilience, and operate with speed and precision in a rapidly changing risk environment.
