You'll build on a token-based design system with an established component library, and on a new visual direction we've developed with an AI agent trained on our brand. You will take that direction further, apply it consistently across every product, and build it into the system so that every squad uses it by default.\nYou will be part of the platform team. Around 70 percent of your time goes into visual design and the design system, and the rest into product design work on the platform.\nThis is a long-term role. Once the foundation is in place, you continue to develop it.\nWhat You'll Do\nReview our current products and decide which visual inconsistencies to address first.\n\nDefine the visual language: typography, colour, layout and density, iconography, illustration and motion.\n\nBuild it into the design system as components, including interaction states, transitions and micro-interactions.\n\nDevelop our early visual direction into a documented standard for all squads.\n\nWork with the other designers and with engineering to get the system adopted across products.\n\nDesign and ship product work for the platform team.\n\nWork in code. Our designers use Claude Code to build and open pull requests, following clear guidelines on when to involve a developer.\n\nWhat You Bring\nSenior or lead level product design experience, with visual design as your strongest skill.\n\nA portfolio showing visual systems you created and the thinking behind them. We are specifically looking for work with a clear visual identity, beyond well-designed user flows.\n\nExperience building and maintaining a design system that other designers and engineers used.\n\nExperience with motion and interaction design.\n\nExperience customising and extending an existing code-based component library, such as shadcn/ui, Radix or Material UI.\n\nComfort working close to code. You can read HTML and CSS and you understand how your designs get built. We design mainly in code with Claude Code, and Figma is a secondary tool for us.\n\nConfidence presenting and defending design decisions to product managers and engineers.\n\nFull professional English.
