To see our full benefits, check out: Eaton Benefits\nWhat you’ll do:\nThe Machine Shop Team Lead is responsible for leading day-to-day machine shop operations to ensure work is assigned properly, schedules are met, and quality and safety requirements are maintained. This role supports machinists through hands-on leadership, troubleshooting machining and process issues, and training employees on equipment, methods, and expectations.\nThe Team Lead serves as the primary point of contact between the machine shop floor and Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Planning. As a working lead, this position routinely sets up, operates, and troubleshoots CNC and manual equipment, producing parts ranging from simple to complex aerospace components. Work may include prototype, new, or low-volume jobs where processes are still being developed.\nIn this role you will:\nSupport and comply with Eaton Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures at all times.\nOversee machining operations across Haas and Mazak lathes; Mori Seiki and Haas mills, as well as deburring, Bruderer stamping, and tool room activities.\nAssign daily work to machinists, ensuring jobs are run to the correct priority, schedule, and revision level.\nVerify machinists are using correct programs, tooling, fixtures, and documentation with minimal supervision.\nTroubleshoot equipment issues related to dimensional non-conformance, tooling wear, and machine performance.\nSupport first-article and in-process inspections; work with Quality to resolve NCRs and implement corrective actions.\nTrack and monitor production orders with focus on schedule adherence and machine utilization.\nAct as the liaison between the Machine Shop, Quality, Engineering, Inspection, and Planning.\nLead daily shift and team meetings; communicate production status, issues, and priorities clearly.\nTrain new machinists on machining processes, equipment operation, tooling, safety requirements, and standard work.\nEnsure accurate completion of work order transactions, labor reporting, and inventory movements in the manufacturing system.\nSet a positive example in safety, quality, accountability, and teamwork.\nAssume supervisor’s responsibilities as needed, including reporting production status and escalating issues.\nPerform other duties as assigned; may be asked to support other production areas as business needs require. \nQualifications:\nRequired Qualifications:\nMust have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.\n\nA minimum of 5 years' experience in machine setups and operation, including CNC and/or manual machining.\n\nA minimum of 1 year of experience leading, training, or mentoring machinists.\n\nNo relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of Camarillo, CA (50 miles) will be considered for this position.\n\nThis position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158.\n\nPreferred:\n5+ years of CNC programming experience\nExperience machining aluminum, stainless steel, alloy steel, and other aerospace materials.\nKnowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.\nExperience supporting prototypes, first articles, and low-volume/high-mix production environments.\nAssociate degree or technical certification in Machining, Manufacturing Technology, or related field.\nPosition Criteria:\nWorking knowledge of shop math including decimals, fractions, and negative numbers.\nStrong knowledge of aerospace products, machining processes, and inspection techniques.\nAbility to perform and support machine setups, including program loading, tooling and fixture changes, offset adjustments, and first-article verification.\nExperience modifying CNC programs to correct errors or adjust for tooling changes.\nAbility to create and run machining programs as required.\nProficient with precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and optical comparators.\nAbility to calculate tolerance zones from unilateral and bilateral tolerances.\nMeasures and verifies own work to ensure compliance with drawing requirements.\nAbility to read and understand engineering drawings, GD&T, blueprints, and technical documentation.\nComputer proficiency, including production data entry and basic analysis.\nStrong communication skills, both verbal and written; able to work effectively across departments.\nAbility to recognize equipment issues and process problems and escalate appropriately.\nGood manual dexterity for handling small and intricate parts.\nAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform bending, reaching, twisting, and standing for extended periods.\nWillingness to perform repetitive tasks while standing or sitting as required.\nWe are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
