Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.\nWhat you’ll do:\nEaton's Electrical Critical Power Solutions Division designs, manufactures, and services power distribution and critical power infrastructure solutions, including Remote Power Panels (RPP), Static Transfer Switch (STS), Power Distribution Units (PDU), UPS systems, monitoring and metering equipment, and related electronic products. Our employees deliver mission-critical solutions to customers with demanding energy management requirements.\nPosition Overview:\nThis role is responsible for leading the design verification and validation (V&V), test automation, and laboratory testing activities for RPP, DCPD, and PDU products within the Critical Power Solutions organization. The position defines test strategies, develops and executes verification plans, and oversees manual and automated testing of embedded firmware, hardware, and system-level functionality.\nThe Lead Test Engineer provides technical leadership for validation activities, supports the development of automated test platforms and laboratory infrastructure, and ensures products meet functional, performance, reliability, safety, and regulatory requirements. The role also supports safe operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of engineering laboratory environments at Eaton Raleigh.\nIn this role you will:\nDefine and own overall test strategies and verification approaches for RPP, STS, and PDU products.\nLead the development of test plans, test specifications, verification matrices, procedures, and validation reports.\nLead manual and automated testing activities for embedded firmware, controls, communication interfaces, and system-level functionality.\nDesign, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks using LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, Robot Framework, C#, and related technologies.\nWorking with integrated development environments (IDEs) and tools: Visual Studio, LabVIEW, and NI MAX (National Instruments Measurement & Automation Explorer).\nExperience in control, test & measurement equipment related to automated software engineering for the verification and validation of electromechanical systems.\nProvide technical direction for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL), Model-in-the-Loop (MiL), and Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) validation activities.\nDevelop and support Automated Test Equipment (ATE), test carts, and laboratory validation systems.\nOversee execution of regression, integration, system, performance, and qualification testing activities.\nIntegrate automated test solutions into CI/CD environments to enable continuous testing and rapid feedback.\nReview test results, analyze failures, perform root-cause analysis, and drive defect resolution with cross-functional teams.\nGuide laboratory setup, instrumentation selection, test environment readiness, and safe operation of high-power test systems.\nSupport product qualification, customer acceptance testing, UL certification, and regulatory validation activities.\nAct as the primary test representative in requirements reviews, design reviews, and architecture discussions.\nMentor engineers and promote best practices in embedded testing, test automation, and laboratory operations.\nCollaborate with firmware, hardware, systems, manufacturing, quality, and DevOps teams to ensure successful product delivery.\nEstimate testing effort, manage schedules, identify risks, and drive continuous improvements in test processes and automation coverage.\nQualifications:\nRequired (Basic) Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience, OR Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience.\nExperience in embedded systems, firmware testing, and system level verification.\nEaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. This means that Eaton will not support any CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT plans, F-1 to H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, I-485 job portability, etc.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience in embedded systems, firmware testing, or electrical product development.\nHands on experience working in engineering or test lab environments.\nExperience with RPP, STS, PDU, UPS, or critical power products.\nExperience supporting product verification, regulatory compliance, and certification activities for power distribution, control, or embedded electronic products.\nFamiliarity with UL, IEC, IEEE, and related industry standards, including UL 891, UL 61010 and UL1008S, and UL 62368.\nExperience with LabVIEW/TestStand architectures and automated test equipment.\nExperience with Robot Framework and CI/CD-based test automation.\nExperience with network enabled communication protocols, message queues, and databases.\nSkills:\nAbility to work effectively in a cross functional team environment\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of formal test procedures and reports\nAbility to manage tasks and processes required to execute testing activities efficiently\nDemonstrated awareness of safety and risk considerations associated with electrical products and high power testing\nSelf motivated, proactive, detail oriented, and safety focused, with the ability to overcome obstacles and meet project schedules\nFlexibility to work varying hours during test execution, as required\nAll positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
