We expect to complete this process by the end of the first half of 2027. The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton's plans, programs and practices. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Mobility Group when the transaction closes, the new company will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time.\nThis position is part of the Vehicle Controls Product Line engineering team and supports the mechanical design and development of rugged operator-control products for on-road and off-road vehicles and commercial mobile equipment. Products include rocker, toggle, push-button, key-lock, and rotary switches; indicators; multiplexed keypad and electronic switch modules; operator-control and human-machine interface products; and vehicle input/output modules. The engineer will translate customer and system requirements into robust mechanical concepts, detailed designs, drawings, and product-validation plans. The role supports the full product-development cycle-from requirements review and concept selection through design release, verification, validation, production launch, and lifecycle support-while collaborating with electronics, systems, software, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, suppliers, and global engineering teams.\n\"What you’ll do:\nDevelop mechanical concepts, layouts, 3D models, and production drawings for Vehicle Controls products, including rocker, toggle, push-button, key-lock, and rotary switches; indicators; multiplexed keypads and electronic switch modules; operator-control and human-machine interface products; and vehicle input/output modules.\nDesign product housings, bezels, buttons, rockers, toggles, knobs, plungers, light guides, mounting features, terminal and connector interfaces, seals, gaskets, fastening systems, springs, and actuation mechanisms.\nConvert customer, system, packaging, ergonomic, styling, environmental, reliability, safety, and manufacturing requirements into clear mechanical design requirements and verification criteria.\nPerform engineering calculations, tolerance stack-ups, material and process selection, and design trade-off studies to support technically sound decisions.\nApply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and Eaton drafting standards to create accurate, manufacturable, serviceable, and robust designs.\nSupport design reviews and risk-management activities, including design failure mode and effects analysis, critical-to-quality identification, P-diagrams, and design-for-six-sigma methods.\nCoordinate prototype builds and mechanical verification and validation testing; analyze results, document conclusions, and support corrective actions.\nWork with manufacturing and suppliers on design for manufacturing and assembly, tooling feasibility, appearance and tactile quality, part quality, and production-launch issues.\nSupport current-product engineering, value analysis/value engineering, localization, cost-out, quality improvement, and engineering change activities.\nPrepare and maintain design records, bills of material, engineering change documentation, calculations, test reports, and lessons learned in accordance with the product-development process.\nCommunicate technical status, risks, and recommendations to project stakeholders and escalate issues with supporting data.\nPerform assigned work with guidance from senior engineers while taking ownership of quality, schedule, and closure of defined engineering deliverables.\"\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.\n0-2 years of relevant experience with a master’s degree, or 2-4 years with a bachelor’s degree, in mechanical product design and development. Automotive or vehicle-control product experience is preferred.\nSkills:\n\"\nExperience or academic exposure relevant to rugged Vehicle Controls products such as rocker, toggle, push-button, key-lock, and rotary switches; indicators; multiplexed keypads and electronic switch modules; operator-control or human-machine interface products; and vehicle input/output modules.\nProficiency in 3D CAD modeling and detailed drawing creation using Creo and/or CATIA.\nWorking knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, tolerance stack-up analysis, fits, interfaces, and engineering calculations.\nUnderstanding of mechanical design principles for injection-molded plastics, elastomers, die-cast parts, sheet metal, machined parts, terminals, fasteners, seals, buttons, rockers, toggles, knobs, plungers, springs, light guides, and actuation mechanisms.\nKnowledge of material selection, manufacturing processes, design for manufacturing and assembly, tooling considerations, and supplier drawing reviews.\nAbility to develop concepts that meet packaging, ergonomics, tactile and audible feedback, appearance, ingress protection, vibration, shock, thermal, durability, safety, reliability, lifecycle, and cost targets.\nWorking knowledge of design failure mode and effects analysis, design reviews, root-cause analysis, structured problem solving, and verification and validation methods.\nFamiliarity with product lifecycle management, bills of material, engineering change control, and configuration management.\nAbility to support prototype builds and mechanical testing, including dimensional, operating-force and travel, tactile-response, vibration, shock, thermal, ingress-protection, and durability evaluations, as applicable.\nSound analytical skills and the ability to document assumptions, calculations, test evidence, and technical conclusions.\"\n\"\nClear written and verbal communication, including concise technical reports and presentations.\nCollaboration across mechanical, electronics, systems, software, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and supplier teams.\nLearning agility and willingness to seek guidance while building technical depth.\nOwnership of assigned deliverables, attention to detail, and disciplined follow-through.\nData-based problem solving, sound judgment, and timely escalation of risks.\nCustomer focus, integrity, inclusion, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.\"","description_format":"text","description_chars":6369,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":2,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":true},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Aerospace
