Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.\nWhat you’ll do:\nAs a Design Engineer Intern at Eaton's Mission Systems Division you’ll be a member and active contributor of a Product Development Team. In this role you’ll have the opportunity to utilize skills and theory learned in the classroom and apply them to real-world problems in the Aerospace Industry.\n\nJob Responsibilities:\nApply fundamental mechanical or electrical principals and physics to designs.\nComplete basic engineering investigations and tasks as assigned.\nCollaborate with experienced engineers to provide follow-up and engineering assistance on defined problems.\nParticipate as a team member, help define/refine methods, and actively contribute towards team goals.\nFollow technical documentation requirements and engineering processes.\nExecute design, analysis, and testing/test setup tasks based on direction from Senior Engineers.\nHelp the team progress through the current Design Phase of an active project (Development or Qualification).\nParticipate in daily project team meetings and provide update on assigned tasks.\nQualifications:\nBasic Qualifications:\nActively enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Technology.\nHave junior standing or higher.\nMinimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher (please don't round).\nRelocation is not offered for this role. Must reside within 50 miles of Orchard Park, New York. \nThis position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must either be (A) a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, (B) eligible to access the export controlled information without a required export authorization, or (C) eligible and reasonably likely to obtain the required export authorization from the applicable U.S. government agency. The Company may, for legitimate business reasons, decline to pursue any export licensing process.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nCompleted Junior or Senior year in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering at the start of the internship.\nHave a working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of software including, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.\nHave some working knowledge of MATLAB, or other mathematical modeling software.\nExperience with SolidWorks 3D modeling software.\nExperience with design for additive manufacturing.\nUnderstanding of drawing standards and application of GD&T.\nAdvanced circuit knowledge (op amp topography, low/high pass filters, MOSFETs/BJT).\nExperience with schematic design software (OrCAD, Altium, etc.).\nExperience with circuit simulation in LTSpice such as generating Bode Plots for filters.\nBasic Arduino usage and programming.\nBasic understanding of EMI and how to counter act it (decoupling caps, trace lengths, etc.).\nTechnical Knowledge:\nUnderstanding of electrical and lab safety.\nUnderstanding of basic mechanical and dynamic principles.\nExperience with 3-D modeling software.\nAbility to read a technical drawing.\nBasic circuit understanding (i.e voltage divider, pull up resistor, diode).\nBreadboarding or soldering for circuit construction.\nLaboratory equipment usage (DVM, Oscilloscope, power supplies).\nAbility to read electrical schematic.\nSoft Skills:\nCommunication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey technical information to Senior Engineers.\nCollaboration: The ability to work well in multidisciplinary teams.\nIntellectual Curiosity: A genuine passion for exploration, learning, and pushing the boundaries of current knowledge.\nAnalytical Thinking: The ability to analyze complex data and draw meaningful conclusions to contribute to design decisions.\nProblem-Solving: An aptitude for identifying challenges and suggesting creative and innovative solutions.\nAll positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
