Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.\nWhat you’ll do:\nReporting to the Production Manager - Custom Switchboards, this position constructs large steel switchboard structures largely by hand using hand/power tools, ladders, machines, jigs/fixtures and other manufacturing equipment. Candidates require excellent mechanical aptitude, experience using torque tools, good ability to communicate in English, and the physical ability to perform the work (includes heavy lifting, prolonged periods of standing and frequent use of awkward postures such as bending, kneeling and overhead reaching).\nThere is no wiring (electrical assembly) in this role.\nSpecifically, the successful candidate will:\nBuild large switchboard structures and internal subassemblies using pre-fabricated metal parts (steel and copper), following engineering schematics and electrical drawings.\nMount and brace parts and subassemblies inside structures.\nConstruct custom skids using power saw and nail gun.\nEnsure use of proper hardware, correct torque and consistent fastening methods.\nIdentify design issues and raise them through the correct channels.\nVisually inspect parts and material for conformance to quality standards and customer specifications.\nModify parts using machines and power tools.\nRepair or rework issues detected during the inspection/test stage of the job.\nQualifications:\nRequired (Basic) Qualifications:\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent additional experience\nMinimum 12 months experience in mechanical assembly using power tools.\nExperience using torque tools.\nLegally eligible to work in Canada without company sponsorship now and in the future.\nNo relocation is offered for this position. All candidates must reside within 80 KM of Milton, ON to be considered.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPost-secondary education or a technical certificate in a mechanical trade.\nExperience using Outlook, ADP, Oracle and Inventor.\nKnowledge of Lean manufacturing processes (Kanban, 5S+, MRB) and Six Sigma Tools.\nSkills:\nPosition Criteria:\nProven aptitude for complex mechanical work.\nMust be able to speak, read and write English effectively.\nStrong work ethic.\nAble to visualize and plan the assembly of a switchboard structure.\nExcellent attitude towards quality, safety, continuous improvement and teamwork.\nFunctional with computers, in order to use a variety of digital business tools (email, ADP, electronic models, eLearning modules).\nThis posting is for an existing vacancy.\nAt Eaton we leverage artificial intelligence to recommend jobs to you that match the skills and experience required for the open role.
