Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.\nWhat you’ll do:\nThe Senior Design Engineer is responsible for new product development (NPD/NPI) and/or ongoing engineering support custom interconnect systems and hold-down release mechanism devices for space and defense applications.\nThe role requires application of sound engineering principles, practical problem solving, and use of engineering tools including product life-cycle management (PLM) software and modeling and drafting software (CAD). The senior design engineer will be responsible for engineering program milestone achievement on led projects and support milestone achievement on supported projects. Projects may include Internal Research and Development (iR&D), new product introduction (NPD/NPI), sustaining engineering, cost-out projects, manufacturing sourcing changes, and new business campaigns.\nA successful candidate will be able:\nLead product development tasks within the product engineering team, and/or lead sustaining engineering tasks working with cross-functional colleagues.\nProactively coordinate with partners such as internal and external test labs, production support staff, and members of integrated product teams (IPT’s) to achieve organizational goals.\nGuide less experienced members of the engineering team on project tasks.\nLead failure analysis investigations and troubleshoot design and production issues.\nGenerate and review documents including models, drawings, FEA reports, test plans and reports, project schedules, design guides, and operating manuals.\nManage program and product requirements and risks through effective requirements and risk management tools.\nCollaborate with customer and vendor technical teams effectively and efficiently.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nLeads tasks in the development of new products from concept level, through validation and qualification following applicable regulatory and industry standards and customer requirements.\nCoordinates responses to sustaining engineering issues, developing timely, cost-effective solutions. Represents Engineering in the Material Review Board (MRB).\nGenerates models and drawings to capture the engineering design, and manages the review and release of this technical data, as well as related reports and program deliverables, through Eaton’s Product Lifecycle Management database.\nGenerates and reviews engineering inputs to customer proposals, including technical concepts, preliminary bill of materials (BOM’s), test and analysis scope and related expenses, and preliminary engineering labor estimates.\nGenerates and reviews mechanical design and dimensional analyses. Reviews structural, thermal, dynamic, and performance analysis for design validation as required. Interfaces effectively with applicable internal resources analysis teams.\nAuthors and/or reviews test plans, procedures, and reports and setups for development, acceptance, and qualification testing.\nDrives failure analysis investigations for Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) projects.\nCommunicates effectively with internal and external technical and program leadership teams, and to middle management audiences (external and internal).\nSupports marketing and sales teams with technical support and customer visits.\nQualifications:\nBasic (Required) Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Materials Science from an ABET accredited institution\n2+ years of product development experience in an Aerospace, Automotive, Medical Device, or Pharmaceutical manufacturing environment\nMust be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship now and in the future\nNo relocation benefit is being offered for this position.
