Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.\nWhat you’ll do:\nPRIMARY FUNCTION:\nEaton Aerospace in Glenolden, PA has an opening for a Senior Design Engineer for lubrication system condition monitoring and fluid accessories product design and evaluation. The primary function of the position is design work and project engineering support for both sustaining products and new product development.\nProduct designs are evaluated with layouts, modeling, drawing creation using CAD (CATIA V5, Creo, AutoCAD) and the product release configuration control processes (Enovia). The design engineering position will primarily focus on product design layout, modeling, and drawing creation for machining, casting, assembly, dimensional tolerance, marking, and GD&T per industrial standards. Design decisions will be substantiated with appropriate analysis, trade studies, and legacy product similarities. Phase-Gate product development strategies are utilized for the concept development, design, validation, production, and delivery stages of new product implementation.\nThey will support product design activities of mechanical and electrical product lines / focus areas by providing sustaining product support, pursuing alternative design approaches and processes when needed, while taking market trends and best practices into account.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nA. Provides engineering solutions that meet customer performance requirements, interface details, reliability, cost and schedule requirements. Works with customers to define explicit non-ambiguous requirements. Provides technical direction for assigned projects from initial concept phase to product delivery.\nB. Understands mechanical, electric-mechanical systems and robust design methods. Responsible for concept layout, modeling, detailing, release and change management of drawings in configuration control system. Ensures compliance to quality system requirements.\nC. Establishes technical requirements for fabricated and procured components. Selects materials, finishes, processes, dimensions and GD&T to meet the design intent. Works closely with manufacturing and quality engineers, customers, and suppliers. Visits suppliers and customers as required.\nD. Performs mechanical design tasks for casted, machined, and plastic/metallic additively manufactured components. Works with manufacturing and external suppliers to optimize design decisions. Designs electromechanical sensor packaging with CAD component modeling, assembly and BOM structure creation, and production drawings.\nE. Works with other Eaton teams to perform structural static and dynamic analyses, thermal and fluid dynamics analyses, and other engineering analysis methods to verify compliance.\nF. Manages and releases drawings, models and documentation through Eaton’s product lifecycle management system.\nG. Develops plans for design verification and validation testing for design compliance. Provides support in the testing environment.\nH. Implements product improvement and cost reduction initiatives by evaluating engineering change requests.\nI. Supports sales and marketing in generation of proposals and responses to customer inquiries.\nJ. Designs fluid flow products and fixturing with substantiation of design choices based on fluid mechanics concepts.\nK. Designs, builds, and tests engineering prototypes for proposals and internal research and development projects.\nQualifications:\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical / Aerospace)\nMinimum five years of demonstrated experience in mechanical design, CAD modeling, drawing creation, and GD&T.\nEaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. Preferred electric-mechanical and PCB design experience.\n- Demonstrated experience in seal design, material assessment and design for manufacturability.\n- Experience with manufacturing processes, product testing, stress analysis, magnetic properties, fluid dynamics, and thermal analysis preferred.\nSkills:\nPosition Criteria:\nWorking knowledge of electro-mechanical design principles\nStrong product design ability (Both new product & product modification)\nKnowledge in engineering report and specification writing\nThorough knowledge of product applications, product design techniques, engineering processes, and engineering standards.\nSkills:\nPOSITION CRITERIA:\n- Communicates effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal peers.\n- Well organized and detail oriented in preparation for design approvals\n- Capable of developing conclusions from analyses and applying results to support project team’s activities.\n- Demonstrates ability to clearly explain and discuss drawings, engineering analyses, and manufacturing processes\n- Up to 10% Travel\nAll positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
