Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.\nWhat you’ll do:\nWork as part of a global engineering team to develop, test, and release embedded software and firmware for next-generation medium-voltage power conversion products.\nCollaborate with systems, controls, hardware, and product engineering teams to translate system requirements into software architecture and detailed firmware specifications.\nDesign, implement, and maintain embedded software using C/C++ in real-time operating system (RTOS) environments.\nDevelop software for DSP and microcontroller-based control platforms used in power electronics, energy conversion, and grid-connected applications.\nImplement state machines, real-time control, monitoring, diagnostics, communications, and protection functions for solid-state transformer systems.\nParticipate in software architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, and verification activities throughout the product development lifecycle.\nDebug and troubleshoot embedded systems using JTAG debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other laboratory equipment.\nDevelop, execute, and automate unit tests, integration tests, and system validation activities.\nSupport Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and real-time simulation environments to validate software functionality and system performance.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve performance, reliability, safety, cybersecurity, and product quality issues.\nContribute to continuous improvement of software development processes, tools, and best practices.\nSupport product qualification, field issue resolution, and product launch activities.\nQualifications:\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline, with 2 years of experience in embedded software or firmware development OR a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline, with 1 year of experience in embedded software or firmware development\nProgramming experience in Embedded C and/or C++.\nUnderstanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS) concepts including tasks, scheduling, synchronization, and inter-process communication.\nFamiliarity with microcontrollers, DSP architectures, embedded peripherals, and hardware/software interaction.\nKnowledge of software debugging and version control tools.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with embedded software development tools such as Eclipse, IAR, Keil, Code Composer Studio, or similar IDEs.\nUnderstanding of digital control systems, power electronics, motor control, or power conversion applications.\nFamiliarity with communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, or Modbus.\nExperience with MATLAB/Simulink-based model development and testing.\nExposure to Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and automated test frameworks.\nBasic exposure to FPGA-based systems or HDL concepts (VHDL/Verilog) is beneficial but not required.\nUnderstanding of firmware development processes within regulated or safety-critical products.\nSkills:\nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills.\nAbility to learn new technologies quickly and work in a fast-paced development environment.\nEffective verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong teamwork and collaboration skills across global engineering organizations.\nPassion for developing innovative energy management and power distribution technologies.\nCommitment to engineering excellence, product quality, and continuous improvement.\nWhy Join Eaton?\nWork on cutting-edge solid-state transformer technology enabling the future of EV charging and AI-driven data centers.\nCollaborate with experts in power electronics, embedded systems, controls, and digital engineering.\nGain hands-on experience with advanced energy infrastructure products that directly support global electrification and sustainability initiatives.\nBuild technical expertise in real-time embedded software, power conversion systems, and next-generation electrical platforms.\nAll positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
