This position is based in Moon Township. PA.\nPosition Overview:\nThe Sr Engineering Manager will provide strategic and organizational leadership for a Global Embedded Systems Engineering function supporting the Power Components Division (PCD). This leader will direct an organization of engineering managers and senior technical specialists across electronics hardware, firmware, verification and validation. The role is accountable for setting the function’s vision, strengthening leadership capability, advancing technology and product development strategies, and building the operating discipline required for consistent execution.\nThis is a highly visible manager-of-managers role for a leader who can shape strategy, develop strong leaders and teams, and transform culture. Success requires the ability to establish a compelling direction, translate business priorities into engineering outcomes, raise standards for performance and accountability, and create an inclusive environment where people collaborate, innovate, and deliver. The successful candidate will combine organizational leadership with sufficient embedded systems depth to guide decisions, challenge assumptions, and build credibility with technical and business stakeholders.\nEssential Functions:\nSet and communicate a clear vision and multi-year strategy for the embedded systems engineering organization, aligned with PCS business priorities, product roadmaps, and technology needs.\nLead, coach, and develop engineering managers and senior technical specialists across electronics hardware, firmware, and verification & validation.\nBuild a high-performing leadership team by clarifying roles, strengthening succession pipelines, differentiating performance, and creating meaningful development opportunities.\nReshape organizational culture toward higher accountability, stronger collaboration, faster learning, technical rigor, and disciplined execution.\nTranslate business and customer needs into engineering priorities, capability plans, technology roadmaps, and resource investments.\nEstablish an integrated embedded systems operating model that connects hardware, firmware, and verification & validation throughout the product development lifecycle.\nImprove engineering effectiveness through clear governance, standard work, metrics, design reviews, risk management, and continuous improvement.\nProvide leadership oversight for new product development and sustaining engineering programs, including PRELaunch / PROLaunch gate reviews, design reviews, and project reviews.\nPartner with Product Management, Program Management, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and other engineering functions to deliver safe, reliable, scalable, and secure solutions.\nEnsure product designs and development practices comply with applicable national and international codes, standards, cybersecurity expectations, and quality requirements.\nDevelop organizational capability through workforce planning, talent acquisition, succession planning, coaching, performance management, and recognition.\nPosition Criteria:\nStrategic leader who can connect market, customer, business, and technology trends to a focused engineering agenda.\nProven ability to lead through other leaders, develop management capability, and influence senior technical specialists without relying on direct authority.\nTrack record of leading cultural and organizational transformation while sustaining engagement and delivery.\nBroad understanding of embedded systems development, including electronics hardware, firmware, systems integration, and verification & validation.\nExperience applying phase-gate product development processes and improving engineering governance, quality, predictability, and speed.\nExperience working with international customers, suppliers, and distributed or offshore engineering teams.\nKnowledge of industrial controls, protection products, and regulated or safety-critical product environments is preferred.\nRequired Qualifications:\nMinimum fifteen (15) years of engineering experience, including significant experience in embedded systems or embedded product development.\nMinimum five (5) years of engineering leadership experience, including responsibility for leading other people managers and/or senior technical leaders.\nLegally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience leading a multidisciplinary embedded systems organization spanning electronics hardware, firmware, and verification & validation.\nExperience developing technical and people leaders in a global, matrixed organization\nDemonstrated experience leading large-scale product development programs from concept through industrialization and launch.\nEaton Leadership Attributes:\nEffectively drives and manages change, challenges the status quo and champions new and innovative ideas.\nDemonstrates professional presence, communicates articulately and confidently.\nEffectively leverages functional and cross-functional resources to solve problems, improve processes and meet objectives.\nDemonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills.\nDemonstrated success in effectively and confidently providing “leadership” to employees in a constantly changing environment.\nEducation:\nAn undergraduate degree is required.
