As a Senior Firmware & FPGA Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of Eaton's next-generation Medium Voltage Solid State Transformer (MVSST) technology. You will play a key role in the design, development, and validation of embedded firmware and FPGA-based control solutions for advanced power conversion systems. Working with global multidisciplinary teams, you will help deliver innovative, high-performance, and grid-interactive power electronics solutions that support the future of energy infrastructure.\nYour responsibilities:\nDesign and implement embedded firmware and FPGA solutions for MVSST systems, including real-time control algorithms, protection functions, and state machines.\nDevelop and optimize high-speed digital control functions for power converters operating in medium-voltage applications.\nCollaborate with global engineering teams to develop, test, and release firmware and FPGA functionality across Eaton's advanced power electronics portfolio.\nAnalyze power system architectures and requirements to design scalable and robust technical solutions that meet performance, efficiency, reliability, and safety objectives.\nDevelop firmware in C++ and implement FPGA functionality using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog, ensuring compliance with coding and design standards.\nDesign and implement communication, synchronization, protection, and measurement functions across embedded processors and FPGA platforms.\nTroubleshoot and enhance product features; create and maintain functional specifications, design documentation, and verification reports.\nConduct hands-on testing and debugging in high-voltage and high-power laboratory environments, ensuring strict adherence to safety requirements.\nSupport the creation and execution of verification and validation plans, including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), simulation, and automated test frameworks.\nApply modern development practices including version control (Git), issue tracking (Jira), continuous integration, and automated testing.\nContribute to power electronics system modeling, control validation, and performance optimization using simulation tools.\nMentor junior engineers and actively participate in technical reviews and cross-functional design activities.\nQualifications:\nUniversity Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering\nSolid experience with embedded systems\nSkills:\nExperience developing firmware and/or FPGA solutions for power electronics, industrial controls, motor drives, renewable energy systems, grid-connected converters, or similar applications.\nStrong expertise in embedded firmware development, real-time control systems, and state-machine design.\nStrong FPGA development experience using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.\nExperience integrating firmware and FPGA solutions in complex control architectures.\nProficiency in C++ and real-time embedded systems.\nDeep understanding of power electronics, converter topologies, and closed-loop control systems.\nKnowledge of medium-voltage power systems, grid-connected converters, or energy infrastructure applications.\nExperience with digital signal processing, timing analysis, synchronization, and deterministic control execution.\nFamiliarity with FPGA development tools and workflows (e.g., AMD/Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, ModelSim, Questa).\nExperience debugging complex hardware-software interactions and high-speed digital interfaces.\nFamiliarity with modern software development tools and processes, including Git, Jira, debuggers, profilers, and CI/CD pipelines.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nFluency in English.\nSelf-motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive team player.\nWhat we can offer to you:\nContract in fast growing global company\nChallenging projects in dynamic collaborative team\nGreat promotional opportunities - We encourage internal promotion, whenever possible\nExcellent working environment - safety and ethic are really important for us\nAll positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
