In this role, you’ll develop microgrid control solutions for customers across the U.S to achieve energy savings, reduce greenhouse emissions, improve system resiliency and realize energy independence. As part of our field-focused engineering team, our anticipated travel for the role is 35 % to support project execution and system commissioning.\nThe expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.\nWhat you’ll do:\nAs part of our Microgrid Controls Team, you will design, develop, test, implement and commission Microgrid Control solutions consisting of Solar Photovoltaic (PV), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Diesel/Natural Gas and Generators for our customers, using Automation Controllers, HMI’s, Multi-function Protection Relays, and Data Concentrators from all major OEM’s. You will work independently on assigned project tasks with support and guidance from the Program Manager and other Microgrid Controls team members. It’s where bold, bright professionals like you can reach your full potential-and where you can help us reach ours.\nIn this role, you will:\nCreate, modify, test, and deploy software for Automation Controllers and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s) for Microgrid applications.\nFollow customers, drawings and specifications and internal specifications for project implementation.\nSelect components and create bill of materials.\nPrepare submittal documentation for projects and meet with customers to discuss project requirements and review submittals.\nProvide sketches, mark-ups, and direction to Electrical Designers to develop project drawings.\nPrepare customer submittals, Sequence of Operation (SOO), and test procedures.\nReview DER vendor submittals and coordinate control requirements with vendors.\nCollaborate with other Eaton business groups to ensure Microgrid solution meets design intent.\nAssist with factory testing and field start-ups as required.\nTroubleshoot systems that are not functioning properly.\nQualifications:\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 3 years of experience in power distribution controls applications.\nUnderstanding of Electric Power Systems.\nUnderstanding of Microgrid operations.\nUnderstanding of DERs (PV, BESS, and Generators).\nPossess and maintain a valid driver's license.\nPreferred qualifications:\nPE License.\nKnowledge of electrical distribution equipment and components (low voltage switchboards, low voltage switchgear, medium voltage switchgear).\nKnowledge of Power Monitoring and Control Systems.\nKnowledge of Industrial Communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC-61850).\nKnowledge of Automation Controller Programming (CODESYS, ladder logic, structured text, function block diagram).\nExperience with Inductive Automation’s Ignition (Perspective).\nExperience with Automation Controllers, SCADA and industrial networks.\nExperience with multi-function protection relay based controls.\nAbility to clearly communicate technical topics to varying audiences of internal and external stakeholders.\nField experience working on electrical distribution systems/equipment in commercial and industrial sites and knowledge of electrical safe work practices.\nThe application window for this position is anticipated to close on September 20, 2026.\nWe are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
