In this role, you will play a key part in the design and development of high power, three phase UPS systems, while also contributing to our growing Energy Storage product line.\nYou will be involved in every stage of the product lifecycle-from initial concept through production-working within a dynamic, global, and cross functional team environment. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about hardware design and power electronics who is eager to drive innovation in mission critical power solutions.\nWe offer relocation assistance within the United States along with sponsorship support. This role follows a hybrid work model (3 days in-office, 2 days remote). In-office presence is required based on business and work needs. Remote flexibility is provided to support productivity, but employees should expect to be on-site as necessary to meet team and project requirements.\nThe expected annual salary range for this role is $94000 - $138000 a year.\nPlease note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.\nWhat you’ll do:\nSuccessfully launch critical power infrastructure products that meet customer requirements and Eaton safety, quality, reliability, cost and schedule commitments.\nWork with cross-functional engineering team to design and develop new products including SiC three-phase UPS's from 20kW to 2.5MW and Lithium Ion 1MW and larger energy storage systems for maintaining critical loads such as datacenters and hospitals.\nSpecify and qualify electrical components (breakers, fuses, SCR’s, contactors, power cables etc.)\nCreate circuit diagrams, harness designs, BOM development and technical documentation.\nDevelop skill and experience in power electronics design and development working alongside experienced technical team members.\nWork with global product development teams to solve problems related to performance, functionality, safety, reliability, quality and component availability.\nSupport product DVT and validation testing in the lab with a team of engineers and technicians.\nSupport prototype build, testing and delivery of products to the customer.\nEngage cross functional teams to identify optimal layout while balancing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and long-term serviceability.\nParticipate in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents.\nWork closely with regulatory experts to ensure design meets UL and other certification body requirements\nUtilize standard processes, tools, and test methodology to complete project work\nQualifications:\nRequired (Basic) Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 3 years work experience in electrical product development OR Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with at least one year of work experience in power electronics design or development\nStrong hands-on experience in electrical design, lab testing and trouble shooting.\nAbility to interpret and create electrical drawings, schematics and specifications.\nKnowledge of electrical components, electrical safety, and regulatory requirements.\nKnowledge of three-phase power systems, power electronics, and power conversion topologies.\nUnderstanding layout design principles and familiarity with schematic entry and PCB design tools like Altium, Cadence, etc.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with 3 phase UPS electrical design.\nExperience applying digital control and algorithms to power electronics systems.\nUnderstanding of Magnetics Design for high frequency Power Electronics.\nAbility to simulate, analyze, troubleshoot using HIL systems.\nCompetent with Matlab/Simulink/PLECS and PSPICE.\nAnalyze and simulate power electronics systems from board level to complex products.\nPosition requires an individual who is self-motivated, self-managed, team-oriented, proactive, attentive to detail, task oriented, and able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements.\nFamiliarity with common tools and methods to work in high power lab (480V) environment, oscilloscope, power analyzers and meters.\nSkills:\nProblem Solving - Uses rigorous logic and critical thinking to solve difficult problems with effective solutions, is excellent at honest analysis, looks beyond the obvious and doesn't stop at the first answers\nDecision quality - makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment\nDrive for results - can be counted on to exceed goals successfully with a strong sense of urgency\nContinuous Learner - Actively seeks out new and innovative ways to solve problems\nMentor - can work with less experienced engineers and designer to provide meaningful feedback about design implications\nCommunication - discuss technical concepts and information to internal staff/peers and stakeholders, strong verbal and written documentation, and interpersonal communication skills.\nAll positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
